Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the influence of global fashion and providing an opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited. The arguments regarding professional identity and cultural preservation are introduced but remain underdeveloped and somewhat repetitive. The position is clear, but the reasoning lacks depth and specific, well-explained examples. The essay tends to over-generalize, particularly in the discussion of cultural respect, which impacts the overall persuasiveness of the argument.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is often disjointed. Cohesive devices are used, but they are frequently mechanical or misused (e.g., 'Futher will decision of below', 'In other hand'). The referencing is sometimes unclear, making it difficult to follow the logical flow between sentences. While there is an attempt at paragraphing, the internal structure of the paragraphs lacks the necessary cohesion to achieve a higher band score.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are frequent errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'proffessional carrers', 'Positivily', 'full their living life style', and 'scoiety'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to convey basic meaning, but it lacks the precision and flexibility required for higher bands. The student struggles to use less common lexical items accurately, and the errors occasionally cause the reader to pause to decipher the intended meaning.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are numerous grammatical errors throughout, including subject-verb agreement issues ('people presents their self'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. Punctuation is also inconsistent, which affects the readability of the text. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar and sentence construction significantly limits the score in this criterion.
