Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 201 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the conclusion is incomplete and the arguments remain somewhat superficial. While you address both parts of the prompt—the influence of global fashion and your opinion on whether it is positive or negative—the lack of length prevents a full, well-supported discussion. To improve, you must expand on your points with more detailed examples and ensure you provide a complete, well-rounded conclusion that synthesizes your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the progression of ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive (e.g., 'Another thing is', 'Moreover'). The abrupt ending in the conclusion significantly disrupts the flow and coherence of the final section. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences and paragraphs more naturally. Ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and that your conclusion provides a logical summary of the points discussed.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'tha' instead of 'the', 'unnessary' instead of 'unnecessary', 'cloths' instead of 'clothes', and 'luxuary' instead of 'luxury'. Additionally, some word choices are slightly awkward, such as 'dressing sense' and 'adopt to celebrity lifestyle'. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to social trends and personal finance.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'changed tha way of their dressing sense' and 'cause their mental health', which is an incorrect collocation. There are also issues with article usage and prepositional phrases. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of errors in basic grammar and punctuation prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading your work to catch simple errors and practice using more complex sentence structures with greater accuracy.
