Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying the influence of global fashion and expressing a negative viewpoint. However, the development of ideas is limited. The explanation of how fashion influences lives is repetitive and lacks clarity, particularly in the second paragraph. The argument regarding the negative impact is somewhat tangential, focusing on how money should be spent on social issues rather than directly analyzing the societal or psychological effects of fashion trends themselves. The conclusion is incomplete, ending abruptly mid-sentence, which prevents a full development of the position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is frequently disrupted by awkward phrasing and unclear transitions. While some cohesive devices are used (e.g., 'Initially', 'However', 'In contrast'), they are often applied mechanically or incorrectly, such as 'As, I discussed that...'. The referencing is sometimes confusing, making it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of the argument. The abrupt ending of the final paragraph significantly impacts the overall coherence of the piece.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and often repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'influence', 'fashion', and 'efforts'. There are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'dress their selves', 'make their dressing style', and 'make their market rise'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas with precision. While the meaning is generally discernible, the lack of variety and the persistent errors in word formation and usage limit the score in this criterion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a high frequency of grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are frequent issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'everyone gets effected'), incorrect preposition usage, and sentence fragments. Complex sentence structures are attempted but are often faulty, leading to confusion. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. The incomplete final sentence is a major grammatical and structural failure. The range of structures is limited, and the control over basic grammar is inconsistent throughout the response.
