Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, people have different opinion about fashion treads of dress. In modern era, many individuals wear different kinds of clothing style from encouraged by worldwide fashion pattern. The development has both advantages and disadvantages. However, I firmly believe that the positive aspects surpass the negative ones. Throughout this essay, my stance will be discussed in the upcoming paragraphs with valid reasons and appropriate examples.

To begin with, there are several reason why people adopt global fashion trends. The primary and most significant reason is that international clothes are very comfortable. Numerous dresses has no need much amount of time to wear because of that people prefer that to their daily routine such as t-shirt, jeans, shirts and kurtas. To illustrate, according to research, in Delhi, several working women wear t-shirt and pant instead of Indian traditional dresses such as saree, due to they can work comfortably without arranging saree and other things. Additionally, another contributing factor is that it saves money. Many traditional outfits have very expensive, therefore low income families can not afford this type of cultural clothes.

On the other hand, as opposed to the merits there are several demerits that cannot be overlooked. One major drawback is that it losses their culture and traditions. Communities adapt foreign culture, as a result, children has lake of knowledge about their history and traditional outlets. Moreover, it also decreases country's finance. Increasing number of NRI tourist visits our culture because of folk clothing.

To sum up, although global fashion affects in many ways on people's lives such as losses their culture and traditions and declines economy, according to my perspective there are several benefits like very comfortable and less expensive compare to the cultural attire.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of whether this is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument regarding the economic impact of traditional clothing is underdeveloped and lacks clarity. While the essay covers the requirements, the supporting examples, such as the mention of Delhi, are a bit simplistic. To reach a higher band, you should provide more nuanced explanations for your points rather than relying on brief statements.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Additionally', and 'On the other hand', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is slightly disrupted by grammatical errors, such as in the sentence 'Many traditional outfits have very expensive'. The referencing is generally clear, but the overall progression could be smoother if the sentences were linked with more sophisticated cohesive devices rather than simple connectors.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. You use basic terms like 'different kinds of clothing' and 'very comfortable'. There are also some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'losses their culture' (should be 'lose') and 'traditional outlets' (likely meant 'attire' or 'garments'). The phrase 'lake of knowledge' is a spelling error for 'lack'. To improve, focus on using more precise academic vocabulary and ensure that words are used in their correct grammatical form.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Numerous dresses has no need'), incorrect preposition usage ('affects in many ways on'), and awkward phrasing ('due to they can work comfortably'). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for subject-verb agreement and correct sentence construction.
