Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying social media and celebrities as key drivers and expressing a clear positive stance. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and lack detailed supporting examples. For instance, the mention of 'supporting the economy' is a good point but is not expanded upon. To reach a higher band, you need to provide more substantial evidence and ensure the word count requirement is met to allow for a more thorough exploration of your arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In my view', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to link your thoughts. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow is interrupted by grammatical errors or awkward phrasing, such as the transition between the influence of celebrities and the ease of online shopping. Improving the variety and naturalness of your linking words will help improve the overall flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points effectively. You use some topic-specific terms like 'global fashion', 'international brands', and 'self-expressions'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'influented' instead of 'influential' and 'make fit in society' instead of 'fit into society'. Additionally, there is some repetition of basic vocabulary. To improve, focus on using more precise academic collocations and ensure you are using the correct word forms in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Celebrities adds a famous brands') and missing articles or prepositions ('spread new brands in worldwide'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma splices and run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your accuracy.
