Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, the way in which people dress themselves are significantly influenced by the global fashion trends. This influence has become particularly strong because of the social media, international brands, and the rapid spread of digital content. In my view, this is a positive development when people make sensible choices.

There are several reason why global fashion has influenced people's lives. The first and foremost, exposure to social media which has a huge impact on individuals lifestyle. This is to say that, celebrities and boggers promotes international brands and influence others to imitate the same. In addition to it, people daily came in interaction with lot of advertisements on digital platforms which is also highly responsible for this. To clarify, by watching digital content a lot they get curious for having it.

I believe that this development is predominantly positive because it gives a sense of freedom to the people to explore other cultures and their clothing style. For example, traditional Indian kurta pajama and saree has gained popularity internationally and western clothes are getting common in India. Moreover it will generate a great demand for international clothing. As a result, it will provide employment opportunities to fashion designers, retailers and manufacturers. So, it will contribute in the economy of the country also.

In conclusion, the influence of global fashion is increasing due to usage of social media and more exposure to digital contents with develops curiosity. I reconsider that it has a positive impact because of the self-confidence that people will gain and generation of employment opportunities and exchange of the cultural values and styles.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of whether this is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention social media and celebrities, the explanation of how these specifically influence lives could be more detailed. The arguments regarding the economic impact are relevant but could be expanded with more specific examples or deeper analysis to reach a higher band. Overall, the response covers all requirements but lacks the depth of development expected for a higher score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'The first and foremost', 'In addition to it', and 'Moreover'. However, some of these are used mechanically or incorrectly, such as 'The first and foremost' (which should be 'First and foremost') and 'In addition to it' (which is slightly unnatural). The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences is occasionally hindered by minor errors in referencing and linking, which prevents the essay from reaching the level of 'flexible' use of cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'sensible choices', 'international brands', and 'employment opportunities'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'people daily came in interaction' (should be 'interact with') and 'reconsider that' (should be 'reiterate' or 'reaffirm'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, there is a lack of less common or more sophisticated lexical items that would demonstrate a wider range. Spelling is generally accurate, but the word choice errors occasionally impact the precision of your arguments.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the way in which people dress themselves are' should be 'is'), article usage ('the social media' should be 'social media'), and verb tense/form errors ('celebrities and boggers promotes' should be 'promote', 'people daily came in interaction' should be 'interact'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. More attention to proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy is recommended.
