Student answer (Band 5.5)

The global fashion trends are become popular in many aspects of the way that people dress nowadays and influenced from them and try to look like them. This trends are now put a very strong influence on people's lives. In my opinion this practice has some major negative impact and development in our society. In coming paragraphs i will discuss my points about how today's younger generation influence by global celebrities and their fashion trends.

First on one hand many celebrities and influencers promote global fashion trends because they are getting handsome money from brands. People see their shoots and promotions on different social media platforms. They admire their look and start thinking about how we look on these dresses. Our young generation want to wear similar clothes. In addition international fashion brands are now available in many countries. As a result people can buy similar products ahead where they live.

On the other hand this trend have also some positive effects. People have so much choices of what they wear and which culture and trend they follow. Global fashion can also help people to learn about different cultures. For example if someone is in Pakistan and they want to wear western culture dress and also many more cultural dress they want to wear. They can easily buy from outlook that is located in many shopping malls in Pakistan.

In conclusion global fashion trends have major impact on our lives. Young generation spend a lot of money to buy different fashion products. While it has some positive aspects as well it teaches us about different western, European and african cultures.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the influence of fashion and providing an opinion on its impact. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the explanation of why celebrities promote trends is brief, and the discussion of positive effects lacks depth, relying on a simple example of shopping malls. The position is clear, but the arguments could be more thoroughly extended to meet the requirements for a higher band. The conclusion is also quite brief and does not fully synthesize the points made in the body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'First on one hand', 'In addition', and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural. The progression of ideas is generally easy to follow, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could be improved by using more varied linking words to connect sentences more fluidly. Referencing is mostly clear, though some sentences lack the necessary logical connectors to bridge the gap between the premise and the conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'fashion trends', 'people', and 'wear'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary, such as 'social media platforms' and 'international fashion brands', the phrasing is often simplistic. There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'handsome money' (which is idiomatic but slightly informal) and 'outlook' (likely meant 'outlets'). To improve, the student should focus on using more sophisticated synonyms and collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('The global fashion trends are become', 'this trend have'), incorrect verb tenses, and awkward phrasing ('influenced from them'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with missing commas in complex sentences. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of these errors limits the score. The student should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex structures.
