Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 154 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While the student identifies that global fashion is a positive development, the arguments are superficial and lack the necessary depth or supporting examples required for an academic essay. The response addresses the prompt's two questions, but the explanation is repetitive and lacks the analytical rigor expected at this level. To improve, the student must expand on their points with specific, well-explained examples and ensure the essay meets the length requirement to allow for full development of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay lacks a clear structure. While there are attempts at paragraphing, the transitions between ideas are abrupt and often illogical. Cohesive devices are either missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'For Example' without providing a substantial illustration. The progression of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the argument. To improve, the student should focus on using a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that supports the overall thesis.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary is very basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'important for our lifestyle' and 'run with society' are used multiple times, indicating a limited range of expression. There are also errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'dressing is make difference' and 'look intelligent' (when referring to fashion). The student struggles to use less common vocabulary or precise terminology related to the topic of fashion and social influence. To reach a higher band, the student needs to expand their vocabulary by learning synonyms and collocations relevant to social trends and personal identity.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response contains frequent grammatical errors that often impede communication. Basic errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'global fashion become', 'dressing is make difference') and sentence structure are prevalent. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, and the punctuation is inconsistent. Many sentences are fragmented or lack the necessary articles and prepositions to be grammatically sound. To improve, the student should focus on mastering basic sentence construction, ensuring correct verb tenses, and practicing the use of complex sentences to demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
