Student answer (Band 6.0)
In a contemporary world, fashion has became an integral part of people's way of living. People often argues that some of the aspects of modern fashion and dressing sense of people is heavily influenced by global fashion trends. I personally believe that it has mainly a negative impact on the society. Compelling reasons supporting the view is discussed in the following paragraphs with most suitable examples.
To begin with, with the wide spread of the social media platforms it is vey easy to create and advertise a new trend for fashion industry. It has influenced consumers point of view regarding style. Fashion industry hires famous personality as their brand ambassador which are very famous among the people on social media to cover large amount of pool of customers. It is very easy to promote and create new fashion trend for companies. For example, in India cricket is very popular sports and Virat Kohli is most followed sports person of the country so Puma collaborated him and marketed new trends that had very wide reach over the country. It has a negative development that consumers are easily manipulated or convinced to follow new trends and their favorite icon. This creates unnecessary financial burden on them by leading them to buy wrong items only to stay relative to a new trend.
Secondly, it creates significant harms to the environment. Fast changing trends in and easily accessible global fashion results into fast fashion. In fast fashion trends and style are continuous changing creating constant need of manufacturing new design and product. To follow the new fashion people often discard their newly bought cloths to be in trend and buy new cloths with new designs. For example, brands like Zudio and Westside are very popular clothing brand in India which launches new design every two months coping up with global fashion changes. Due to this more manufacturing is required and more and more factories of clothing needs to be established which consumes excess water and pollutes water by releasing dyed waste water into rivers and other resources.
In conclusion, with increasing popularity of social media it is easy to reach global fashion audience for international brands which inspires people to follow trends and creates overall negative impact on society.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of whether this is positive or negative. The position is clear from the introduction. Ideas are relevant, such as the role of social media influencers and environmental concerns. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive; for instance, the explanation of how influencers manipulate consumers could be more nuanced. The conclusion is a bit brief and merely restates the prompt rather than synthesizing the arguments. Overall, the response is well-focused and meets the requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Secondly', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'It has a negative development that consumers are easily manipulated'. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'which are very famous among the people on social media to cover large amount of pool of customers', which is syntactically clunky and disrupts the flow of ideas.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task, with some topic-specific terms like 'brand ambassador', 'financial burden', and 'fast fashion'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'stay relative to a new trend' (should be 'relevant') and 'large amount of pool of customers' (which is redundant and unnatural). Spelling is generally accurate, but the vocabulary lacks the sophistication and precision required for a higher band score. The student relies on basic phrasing to express complex ideas.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('fashion has became', 'People often argues'), incorrect preposition usage ('collaborated him' instead of 'collaborated with him'), and article errors ('in India cricket is very popular sports'). While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding the message, they are frequent enough to indicate a lack of control over complex structures, keeping the score in the 6.0 range.
