Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the influence of global fashion and expressing a clear position that it is a positive development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the argument regarding 'not being judged' is repeated in both the body paragraphs and the conclusion without adding new depth. The explanation of how fashion influences lives through media is relevant but remains superficial. To reach a higher band, the response needs to provide more nuanced examples or a more sophisticated analysis of the social or economic implications of global fashion trends.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' are used to signal the structure. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear or repetitive. For example, the frequent use of 'citizens' and 'individuals' makes the flow feel slightly unnatural. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the internal cohesion within paragraphs could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and better pronoun referencing to avoid repetitive sentence structures.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. The student relies on basic, repetitive terms like 'individuals', 'citizens', and 'fashion trends'. There are also some awkward collocations, such as 'powerful change on public lifestyle' and 'affection of worldwide fashion trend', which indicate a limited grasp of natural English phrasing. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of less common lexical items and the occasional misuse of words prevent the response from achieving a higher score in this category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'individuals way of dressing' (missing possessive apostrophe), 'which will helps you' (subject-verb agreement error), and 'you will be not judged' (incorrect word order). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of apostrophes in 'citizen's'. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex grammatical forms.
