Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both parts of the prompt—explaining the influence of fashion and providing an opinion—the arguments are underdeveloped. For instance, the point about cultural identity is introduced but lacks sufficient depth or specific examples to fully explore the 'positive or negative' aspect. Furthermore, the conclusion is contradictory, mentioning 'advantages' without having discussed any in the body paragraphs. To improve, ensure you expand on each point with clear, logical reasoning and maintain a consistent position throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay uses basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'secondly', and 'In conclusion' to signal structure. However, the logical progression is hindered by the brevity of the response and some awkward phrasing. Paragraphing is present, but the internal flow within paragraphs is sometimes disjointed due to grammatical errors and repetitive sentence structures. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the transition between celebrity influence and resource waste feels abrupt. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that each sentence builds logically upon the previous one.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The range of vocabulary is limited and often repetitive. There are several spelling errors (e.g., 'abonden', 'dicuss', 'concequences', 'treditional', 'globlization', 'foriegn') and word choice inaccuracies (e.g., 'traditional cloths' instead of 'traditional clothing', 'bad impact' instead of 'negative impact'). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the high frequency of spelling mistakes prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. You should focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and expanding your vocabulary related to globalization and consumerism.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies primarily on simple sentence structures, with frequent errors in grammar and punctuation that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('the people flaunt their celebrity's fashion and increase the demands of that products') and incorrect verb tenses ('when the globlization was started, the western cloths was used'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing spaces after commas and periods. To improve, practice using complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses or conditional sentences, and proofread carefully to correct basic subject-verb and tense errors.
