Student answer (Band 6.0)
In many ways, global fashion trends has rightly influenced the way people dress these days. These essay will discuss both the positive and negative developments and the many ways it influences people's lives.
To begin with, dressing has been known to be an important part of culture which depicts people's way of life. Through many years, fashion has evolved in various ways. These various ways have had positive developments and outcomes.
Fashion has contributed positively in the health of many, through provision of adequate clothings that protects humans from harsh and extreme weathers. In an instance, people were more covered up in winter and very cold weather with the help of sweathers and pullovers, likewise in the very hot weathers. Footwears like boots are used by farmers and miners for protection in various aspects.
In the social level, people are known and recognized by how they dress in terms of one's profession and vocation. Kings and royals are knowned by how they dress likewise the doctors and lawyers. This gives off a sense of confidence and belonging. Cooperate wears are surely for official purpose likewise, long gowns are mearnt for parties. When one appears in the right dressing, you feel confident and it increases self esteem.
The fashion world has also proven to be economically valuable. It has helped a lot that have joined the fashion industry, thereby providing jobs and a career path as well as reduction in crime. This has improved greatly, the economic growth of a state.
However, there are aspects of life that global fashioin has influenced lives in a rather negative way. It can be termed "abuse of fashion", in the sense that growing fashion has driven many people into the act of indecency and an adverse increase in immorality. More of our fashion trends these days are revealing especially the ladies'. Dresses are now made without backs or even sleeves, thereby exposing parts of the body that are termed "private". This invariably tends to have an impact in the level of responsible adult in the society.
Many will have different opinion of this but i believe that the positive effects of global fashion outweighs the negative influences and that is what matters.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of its impact. The ideas are relevant, particularly the points regarding economic growth and social identity. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The explanation of how fashion influences lives is a bit generic, and the discussion on 'indecency' lacks a nuanced connection to 'global fashion trends' specifically, focusing more on personal morality. While a position is clear, the argument could be strengthened by providing more specific examples of how global media or digital platforms drive these trends, rather than focusing solely on the functional aspects of clothing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a progression of ideas from functional benefits to social and economic impacts, followed by a counter-argument. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive (e.g., 'In an instance', 'In the social level'). Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the transition between the economic paragraph and the negative impact paragraph. While the paragraphing is appropriate, the flow between sentences could be improved to create a more cohesive and sophisticated argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward word choices or non-standard collocations, such as 'cooperate wears' (likely meaning 'corporate attire'), 'mearnt' (spelling error), and 'knowned'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'vocation' and 'economic growth', the overall range is limited. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise terminology related to the fashion industry and ensuring correct spelling and word formation.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('global fashion trends has', 'positive effects... outweighs') and incorrect pluralization ('clothings', 'footwears'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence construction, such as the run-on structure in the final paragraph. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and plural forms would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
