Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 173 words. This significantly limits the development of ideas. While the essay addresses both parts of the prompt—the influence of global fashion and whether it is positive or negative—the arguments are underdeveloped and lack specific examples or depth. The position is stated but not sufficiently supported with logical reasoning. To improve, you must expand on your points with detailed explanations and concrete examples to meet the length requirement and provide a more comprehensive analysis of the topic.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into short paragraphs, but the logical progression is weak. The transition between ideas is often abrupt, and the use of cohesive devices is limited and sometimes repetitive (e.g., 'The positive way is like... and the negative way is like...'). The referencing is occasionally unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the flow of the argument. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects back to the main prompt.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, which limits the ability to convey complex ideas. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'habituated to the new trends' and 'wasting there money' (incorrect homophone). The range of vocabulary is insufficient to discuss the topic with precision. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to fashion and consumerism, and ensure you are using words in their correct context to avoid confusion.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and sentence structure. For example, 'rapidly increase in social media' should be 'rapid increase', and 'global fashion become more influence' should be 'has become more influential'. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and the lack of complex sentences limits the range. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like subject-verb agreement and word forms.
