Student answer (Band 5.5)

The whole world has become global village nowadays. There are a number of trends started in different countries later adopted by the whole world. Fashion has become a global trend having a strong influence on peoples lives. This essay will discuss both views before explaining this is a positive development.

On one hand, it is considered as a positive development because of many reasons. Firstly it promote culture and traditions from country to country and bring people belonging to different race, religion, and language on a common platform. people started to take interest in others cultures as well as following trends introduce by them.

For example, if fashion of patiala paint with short shirt is introduced in country like Pakistan, then it will become a global fashion because this trend will be followed by different people of separate societies.

On the other hand, it has also some negative influences like culture loss. people started to follow trends of other countries by forgetting their own. They show complete interest in fashion trends but it can also cause body issue images as well as buying clothes which are not in budget just to wear dresses that are on trending.

In my opinion, it is a positive development because people started to take interest in each other cultures and traditions by following exchanging trends but it also has some negative influences to. If these are followed by not crossing limits then it is good and considered as positive development.

In conclusion, people dressing is influenced by global fashion trends and it is a positive development but if people misuse it then it is considered as negative influence.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses both parts of the prompt: the reasons for the influence of global fashion and whether it is a positive or negative development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention cultural exchange and the negative impact of 'culture loss' and financial strain, these points are not fully explored with sufficient depth or specific, well-explained examples. The introduction states you will discuss 'both views,' but the essay lacks a balanced exploration before concluding. To improve, ensure each body paragraph provides a clear, well-supported argument that directly answers the prompt's specific questions.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'On one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'In conclusion' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and some transitions are abrupt. For instance, the link between the example of 'patiala paint' and the broader argument about global fashion could be smoother. Additionally, the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, which slightly affects the overall cohesion of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'global fashion trends,' 'cultural exchange,' and 'traditions.' However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of imprecise word choice, such as 'body issue images' (which should be 'body image issues') and 'on trending' (which should be 'trending'). To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more sophisticated collocations and precise academic vocabulary to express your ideas with greater nuance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it promote culture,' 'people started to take interest'), article usage, and pluralization (e.g., 'peoples lives,' 'each other cultures'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing commas that would help clarify your sentences. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic subject-verb agreement and plural forms.
