Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 122 words. Consequently, the development of ideas is severely limited. While you identify the influence of celebrities and media as factors, these points are not sufficiently extended or supported with detailed examples. Furthermore, you only address the negative aspect of the development, failing to provide a balanced discussion or a comprehensive answer to how global fashion has become such a strong influence. The position is clear, but the lack of depth and the significant under-length penalty prevent a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into a basic introduction and one body paragraph. While there is a logical attempt to sequence ideas, the lack of a conclusion and the brevity of the text make the overall progression feel incomplete. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'For example', and 'Moreover', but they are somewhat mechanical. Paragraphing is present, but the structure is underdeveloped due to the short length of the response. To improve, you should ensure each main idea is fully developed in its own paragraph and include a clear concluding summary.
Lexical Resource — Band 4.5
The vocabulary is limited and repetitive, which hinders the expression of more complex ideas. There are several spelling errors, such as 'fasion', 'devolvment', 'celebreties', 'imitateing', and 'fational'. These errors are frequent and occasionally impede the flow of the text. You rely on basic vocabulary, such as 'people' and 'clothes', which are repeated throughout the short response. To achieve a higher band score, you need to demonstrate a wider range of vocabulary, including less common items and more precise collocations related to the topic of fashion and cultural identity.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that affect readability. Examples include 'there are many way to influenced' (should be 'ways to influence'), 'people are lose their culture' (should be 'people are losing their culture'), and 'people are spend lot of money' (should be 'people spend a lot of money'). The sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the spacing and placement of periods. A significant increase in grammatical accuracy and a greater variety of sentence structures are required to improve this score.
