Student answer (Band 6.0)

Many aspects of people’s clothing choices are increasingly shaped by global fashion trends. It become particularly noticeable among young people, largely because of social media, celebrities and the interconnectedness of the world. In my opinion, although this development has some drawbacks, it is predominantly positive.

One major reason why global fashion become influential because the widespread use of social media. Platforms such as Instagram and TikTok, allow people to observe new style and fashion from different parts of the world within a second. Moreover, celebrities and influencers can promote clothing brands and style which encourages their followers imitate their appearance. International trading is an other major factor, global brands can easily accessible in many countries.

There are several benefits to this development. Global fashion allows people to express the individuality and experiment with different styles. It also promotes cultural exchange by exposing people to traditions from other countries. For instance, young people in Pakistan can easily adopt Korean, Chinese, European and American Fashion trends without travelling abroad.

However this trend has also negative consequences. Many aspects of the way people dress today are influenced by global fashion trends.

However, this trend has also some negative consequences. People may feel pressured to buy new clothes frequently to keep up with changing trends. This can result in unnecessary spending and contribute to environmental problems associated with fast fashion. Nevertheless, these drawbacks can be reduce through responsible consumption.

In conclusion, global fashion has become a powerful influence mainly due to social media, celebrities, influencers and international connectivity. I believe its role in self- expression and cultural exchange makes it a predominantly positive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing reasons for the influence of global fashion and a clear opinion on whether it is positive or negative. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed, particularly the discussion on social media and cultural exchange. However, there is a minor repetition error where a full sentence from the prompt is accidentally copied into the body paragraph, which slightly disrupts the flow of the argument. Despite this, the position remains consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively synthesizes the main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different themes. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'For instance', and 'However' are used to link ideas, though some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The referencing is generally clear, although the accidental repetition of a sentence in the fourth paragraph creates a momentary lapse in coherence. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'interconnectedness', 'influencers', and 'responsible consumption'. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'can easily accessible' (should be 'are easily accessible') and 'can be reduce' (should be 'can be reduced'). These errors do not impede communication but prevent the essay from reaching a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The response uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer demonstrates an ability to construct complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms and subject-verb agreement, such as 'It become' instead of 'It has become' and 'global fashion become' instead of 'becomes'. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in comma usage. The errors are noticeable but do not significantly impede the reader's understanding of the main arguments.
