Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era majority of people get motivated by international fashion trends which followed by celebrities. The reason behind that fans follow their idol’s lifestyle in the term of fashion clothes. In my perspective, this is negative development.

To commence with, following celebrities could be adverse for people economically. Usually they wear expensive branded clothes and accessories, some of them are even are limited edition which make them more expensive. People tend to exceed their financial limits to buy same products. Although, these products make them feel like celebrity, they but make them financially unstable as well. Consequently, fans are unable to manage other expenses of their daily life because most of the money they already spend on expensive items.

Furthermore, in the production of these fashion trends wildlife suffer. Such as, leather belts, purses and shoes are made with animal skin. For instance, crocodiles, snakes and even some animals with beautiful fur are porched because of their skin. This is considered as a violation of wildlife animals. Moreover, these animals is essential part of eco-system and food chain, by killing them we are disturbing the law of nature. Thus, government authorities implemented law towards the protection of wild animals and created sanctuaries with the boundaries so there will be no trespassing.

In conclusion, in my opinion global fashion trends put negative effect not only on individuals but also on wildlife. People could broke economically if they keep continue following fashion trends. Eco-system and food chain also suffer if there is no halt on hunting innocent animals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of whether this is positive or negative. You clearly state your position as negative from the outset. The ideas are relevant, focusing on economic strain and environmental impact. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the discussion on wildlife could be more directly linked to the 'global fashion trend' aspect rather than just general animal cruelty. While the main points are clear, they lack the depth and detailed supporting evidence required for a higher band score. The conclusion effectively summarizes your position, maintaining consistency throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'Consequently' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as the transition 'Although, these products make them feel like celebrity, they but make them financially unstable'. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences feel disjointed. Improving the flow between sentences and using a wider variety of cohesive markers would help the progression of ideas feel more natural and sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'branded clothes', 'financial limits', 'eco-system', and 'sanctuaries'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and minor errors, such as 'porched' (likely meaning 'poached') and 'keep continue'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, and there is a lack of more sophisticated or precise collocations that would elevate the writing. To improve, focus on learning more academic synonyms and ensuring correct word forms are used in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, though the control over these is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'which followed by celebrities' (missing 'is'), 'some of them are even are limited edition' (redundant verb), and 'these animals is essential part' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are errors in sentence construction that occasionally hinder the flow. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage would be beneficial.
