Student answer (Band 7.0)
In recent times, global fashion trends have become increasingly influential, affecting the way people choose their clothes in many parts of the world. This influence has largely been driven by social media, international brands and online shopping. I believe that this is a positive development because it provides people with greater choice and opportunities for self-expression.
To begin with, the rapid growth of digital media has made global fashion trends much more accessible. Social media platforms allow people to see latest clothing styles worn by celebrities, influencers and consumers in other countries. As a result, trends spread internationally within a short very period, while online shopping enables people to purchase fashionable clothes regardless of where they live. Additionally, international companies use digital advertising to promote their products to a global audience. For instance, a fashion trend introduced by a popular celebrity can quickly become popular among young people in different countries through social media posts and online videos. Consequently, technology has made global fashion a significant part of people's everyday lives.
There are several reasons why this development can be considered positive. Firstly, global fashion gives consumers a wider range of clothing styles and allows them to express their personalities more freely. People can discover new styles from different cultures and choose clothing that suits their preferences rather than being limited to traditional local designs. In addition, the international fashion industry creates employment and generates income for businesses. For example, the growth of global clothing brands has created jobs in areas such as design, manufacturing, marketing and retail. Therefore, the influence of global fashion can provide both personal and economic benefits.
In conclusion, global fashion has become powerful influence mainly because of social media, international brands and online shopping. I think it is a positive development because it offers greater choice, encourages self-expression and creates economic opportunities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt clearly. You identify the drivers of global fashion (social media, international brands, online shopping) and provide a clear, consistent position that this is a positive development. The ideas are well-developed, particularly the link between digital media and the speed of trend dissemination. The arguments regarding self-expression and economic benefits are relevant and logically supported. To reach a higher band, you could provide more specific, nuanced examples beyond general statements, such as mentioning a specific type of platform or a more detailed economic impact, to further extend your arguments.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Each paragraph has a central topic sentence, and the progression of ideas is smooth. You use a variety of cohesive devices effectively, such as 'To begin with', 'As a result', 'Additionally', and 'Consequently'. The paragraphing is appropriate, and the referencing is clear throughout. The flow of the argument is logical, making the essay easy to follow. There is no evidence of mechanical or repetitive use of linking words, which demonstrates a good level of control over the structure of the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a sufficient range of vocabulary to discuss the topic with precision. Phrases like 'rapid growth of digital media', 'dissemination of trends', and 'economic opportunities' show a good command of topic-specific language. You use less common items appropriately, such as 'accessible' and 'preferences'. While the vocabulary is accurate and fits the context well, it remains somewhat standard. To achieve a higher score, you could incorporate more sophisticated collocations or idiomatic expressions to demonstrate a more flexible and fluent range of lexical resources.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 7.0
The essay displays a good variety of complex structures, such as conditional-like constructions and relative clauses (e.g., 'trends spread... while online shopping enables...'). The majority of your sentences are error-free, and your control over punctuation is strong. There is a minor slip in the phrase 'short very period', which should be 'very short period'. However, this is a rare error and does not impede communication. Your use of verb tenses and subject-verb agreement is consistently accurate throughout the text, reflecting a high level of grammatical control.
