Student answer (Band 6.0)
Its commonly argued that the way most individuals dressed today are influenced by global fashion trends. While it is true that global fashion has become such a strong influence in people lives especially in this current generation, I do think that certain reasons has made it a negative development.
Global trends has set an historical precedent for the people of this generation especially among the youth. The most global trends tend to be in fashion and how to dress and what brands is tending and what outfit to wear. This trends has allows many people to improve their fashion sense and get ideas of what outfit to wear and how to dress to impress and look presentable for an occasion and certain fashion make people from different part of the world feel inclusive.
While the global fashions trends tends to make people feel inclusive, it has is negative developments. With the use of social media, fashion has gone far but it can also make people feel oppressed. For example, not everyone has the same financial situation but the pressure to look and dress like the currents trend and put financial strain on people who empty their wallet to get a certain look or brand.
Another reason I believe it has a negative development is that some people turn to criminal activities like armed robbery, fraud or scam to keep up with what their peers have. Take a look at the popular Birkin bag, not everyone can afford is exorbitant prices and because of that, many people produced counterfeit bags to flood the market.
In conclusion, while global fashion trends has the world together to feel inclusive, I think it sometimes has more of a negative development than positive, In the past people worn what they had and didn't feel the need to do more to keep up with trends.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of whether this is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the negative impacts are supported with examples like financial strain and counterfeit goods, the positive aspects are less thoroughly explored and rely on somewhat vague assertions about 'feeling inclusive'. The essay would benefit from more detailed analysis of how global trends specifically influence individual lives beyond just the desire to 'dress to impress'. Overall, the response meets the requirements of the task but lacks the depth of development required for a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a basic progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'this' to start sentences. Additionally, some transitions between ideas are abrupt, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where 'this trends' is used incorrectly. While the overall structure is coherent, the flow between sentences could be improved with a more varied range of linking words and better control over referencing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'exorbitant' and 'precedent', which is positive. However, there are several instances of inaccurate word choice and collocation, such as 'what brands is tending' instead of 'what brands are trending' and 'has allows' instead of 'has allowed'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing. To improve, the student should focus on learning the correct collocations for common academic topics and ensuring subject-verb agreement in complex sentences.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the text. Frequent issues include subject-verb agreement ('the way... are influenced', 'certain reasons has made', 'global trends has set') and incorrect verb forms ('people worn what they had'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors are noticeable and detract from the overall quality of the writing. The student needs to focus on basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with pluralization and verb tense consistency, before attempting more complex structures to ensure that errors do not occur in the majority of sentences.
