Student answer (Band 5.5)

Global fashion has become the trademark for number of people from different regions who admired others sense of fashion. Now a days, people have become heavily dependent global fashion trend. this chaos, they have forgotten to wear their traditional dresses. I believe that, adopting someone's fashion sense have a negative effect on the culture.

People argue that, fashion has become the language of status. If a human will not follow the relevant trend of fashion, they loss their reputation among society. Day by day, this mentality has conquering the human brain. Although some people believe that the fashion is just a personal choice.

Turning to the rise of fashion industry, there are several factors that are promoting the trend. For example businessmen continue to promote the style and fashion by advertisements. The reason of doing this marketing is to enhance their product's value. The more people attract from their designs the worth they gain. Moreover, the celebrities also promote the fashion. They are paid for this act by many forums who make fashion items.

On the contrary, global fashion could influence the original identity of a nation. Geographically, people live in different regions have custamized fashion. For instance, people who live in the Arab have adopted their fashion to prevent their body from sand and heat. On the other hand, in Pakistan people dressed up according to their culture and norms.

In conclusion, fashion should be availed with respect of geographical and traditional values. It should be acquired as benifit. We should avoid to follow the unnecessary trends that lead us to inferiority complexes

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the influence of fashion and expressing a clear negative stance regarding cultural identity. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The explanation of why fashion influences lives is a bit simplistic, focusing primarily on marketing and celebrities without exploring deeper psychological or social drivers. The discussion on cultural impact is relevant, but the examples provided (Arab and Pakistani clothing) are brief and could have been better integrated to support the argument more robustly. To reach a higher band, ensure that each point is fully extended with more detailed reasoning and clearer links to the prompt's core question.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a basic attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'On the contrary', and 'In conclusion'. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and the use of referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between the status argument and the following sentence is abrupt. The transition between the introduction and the body paragraphs could be smoother to improve the overall progression of ideas. Paragraphing is present, but the internal structure of the paragraphs could benefit from more varied cohesive links.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'inferiority complexes' and 'customized', though some word choices are slightly awkward or imprecise, such as 'mentality has conquering' (should be 'is conquering') and 'availed with respect'. Spelling errors are present, such as 'benifit' and 'custamized', which occasionally distract the reader. To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring accurate spelling of academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('people live in different regions have custamized fashion'), incorrect article usage ('the fashion is just a personal choice'), and awkward phrasing ('The more people attract from their designs the worth they gain'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to lower the score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring greater accuracy in basic grammar would significantly improve the quality of the writing.
