Student answer (Band 6.0)

Personality of the people can be identified by the way they are dressed up. The trend of international style have influence over the dressing sense of people in current time. Although the foreign dressing style makes people look more modern and good looking, I believe this is a negative development as it risks of erasing our culture and tradition.

On the one hand, people of this generation use technology and social media a lot. As a result, they get to know the fashion of foreign countries and get easily influenced. Because of globalization and easy trade between countries, they could find these clothes in their own home country through several platforms. It is also necessary to let people wear whatever they want. Additionally, some of the international brands are good in quality and look better while wearing. For instance, wearing foreign brand clothes uplift the personality of people and moreover, people look modern with these clothes.

On the other hand, our own customs hold our own identity. Our ancestors had designed these customs and even represent our country. For instance, Daura Suruwal for men and Gunyo Choli for women are the traditional clothes of Nepal. If someone wears these clothes, people instantly call them as a Nepali. This go same for other countries as well. From here, we can see how much value national clothes hold. It is even our duty not to forget our cultures and traditions. We should preserve our history as it has so much value and can be taught to upcoming generation. Moreover, foreign fashion is so modern that it could have a negative impacts on cultural countries. For instance, Nepali people look more covered but the foreign dress are so naked that people perceive it as a disaster to tradition and cultural values.

To conclude, rising technological advancement and effective trade policy have made people go crazy for international fashion, however I strongly argue that traditional dressing style has so many values and people should always remember their originality.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of this trend. The position is clear from the introduction and maintained throughout. Ideas are relevant, such as the role of social media and the importance of cultural identity. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding the negative impact of 'naked' foreign clothing is a bit simplistic and could have been more nuanced to reach a higher band. While the main points are supported with examples like Nepali traditional dress, the analysis of why global fashion is a 'strong influence' could be more deeply explored beyond just technology and trade.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs. Each paragraph has a central topic, and there is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'On the one hand,' 'On the other hand,' and 'To conclude,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical or repetitive, and the referencing is occasionally slightly awkward, such as 'This go same for other countries as well.' Despite these minor issues, the paragraphing is appropriate and the overall flow is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The range of vocabulary is adequate for the task. You use some topic-specific terms like 'globalization,' 'cultural values,' and 'technological advancement.' However, there are instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'dressing sense of people,' 'go crazy for,' and 'foreign dress are so naked.' These choices are slightly informal or unnatural. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and precise adjectives. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and flexibility required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'Personality of the people can be identified' (missing article), 'risks of erasing' (incorrect verb pattern), and 'This go same' (subject-verb agreement). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and phrasing issues. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, consistent use of articles, and refining complex sentence structures to ensure they are error-free.
