Student answer (Band 5.5)

Modern society is heavily influenced by different fashion trends trending around the world. I firmly believe that this type of influence can negatively harm the person lifestyle.

The rise in trend of different type of global fashion is all because of globalization. With the development of different types of technologies the whole globe have become one small village. Where one can experience whole different and new culture, language, lifestyle, and fashion. Along with the growing trend of social media all around the world the taste and preference of fashion in people's mind have changed a lot during the past decades. Whether the person can afford those materials does not matter as long as its trending. And this type of action alter the person life.

Furthermore, everybody just wants to showoff in the social media platform. For example: if their favorite celebrity or influencer have done something new and unique. Their followers are ready to do the exact thing despite not having proper knowledge and information. Moreover, people are ready to believe and accept that what their favorite celeb does are all great with crosschecking its negative side. These type if habits are serious threat to person's character development. Following global trend is a great but without knowledge its very dangerous.

In conclusion, global fashion have become very essential in everybody

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you address both parts of the prompt—explaining the influence of global fashion and providing an opinion—the discussion is underdeveloped. The conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence, which prevents a clear summary of your position. To improve, you must expand on your arguments with more detailed examples and ensure the essay is fully completed. The ideas regarding social media and celebrity influence are relevant but lack the depth required for a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the progression of ideas is hindered by the incomplete conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'Moreover,' but the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'this type of action,' where the antecedent is vague. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that connects logically to the next, leading to a fully realized conclusion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. You rely on simple phrasing like 'heavily influenced' and 'different types of.' There are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'negatively harm' (which is redundant) and 'crosschecking its negative side' (which should be 'without checking'). To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic of globalization and consumer behavior, and pay closer attention to collocations to ensure your writing sounds more natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There is a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but the essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues like 'the whole globe have become' and 'global fashion have become,' as well as punctuation errors and awkward phrasing such as 'these type if habits.' While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors limits the score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and proofreading for basic errors in articles and prepositions.
