Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, fashion trend is increasing significantly. Majority of the dressing sense individuals wear thesedays are being influenced by world wide fashion trends. Global designer's products have profound influenced on people's living condition. I firmly believe that it is a negative development.

This paragraph will show how global fashion have transformed people's live, to commence with, ordinary people are less likely to show interest in wearing cultural atire because of the globalization, many celebrities and influencer are hired by global fashion companies to boost their sells. As a result, a set of individuals influenced to wear western outfits rather than traditional one. This leads to negative development as people are forgetting their original outfit. For example, in some cities of the India, women has been noticed wearing traditional clothes including sarees, while men with turbans and special trousers. However, thesedays majority of them are adapting western outfits.

Another consequence is that such global fashion brands are highly expensive, many people, especially youngsters purchased such luxurious clothes because it is endorsed by well-known personalities and tycoons which they admire, which can encourage financial burden and disrupt family budgets. This leads to persuasive marketing rather then genuiene necessity.

Admittedly, there are also some positive effects of global fashion brands can provide employment opportunities who have skills regarding fashion. Moreover, world wide brand not only foster country's reputation but also stimule economic graph.

In conclusion, although global fashion encourage jobs opportunities and economic growth, discouraging cultural identity and enhancing negative peer pressure is the serious issue. Therefore, I believe that its negative effects outweigh positive developments. Customers should think before purchasing such global items for better life span.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the evaluation of whether this is positive or negative. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the negative impacts regarding cultural identity and financial burden are discussed, the explanation of how global fashion influences lives is slightly repetitive. The examples provided, such as the mention of traditional Indian clothing, are relevant but could be more deeply integrated to support the argument. Overall, the response covers the requirements, but the depth of analysis is limited, placing it at the lower end of the band 6 range.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'to commence with', 'as a result', and 'in conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or forced. The progression of ideas is generally logical, moving from the influence of fashion to the negative consequences and finally the positive aspects. However, there are some issues with referencing and sentence-level flow, such as the awkward phrasing in the introduction and the transition between the second and third paragraphs. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use less common vocabulary, such as 'profound', 'persuasive', and 'genuiene' (spelled incorrectly). However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward collocations, such as 'dressing sense individuals', 'boost their sells' (should be 'sales'), and 'stimule economic graph'. These errors do not impede communication, but they demonstrate a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more accurate word forms and natural collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'global fashion have transformed', 'women has been noticed') and article usage. Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some run-on sentences and comma splices. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the text. The range of structures is sufficient to communicate the argument, but the frequency of errors prevents a higher score.
