Student answer (Band 6.0)
Global fashion has become strong influence on people's lives, particularly because of the rapid growth of social media, international brands and online shopping. Although this development has some negative consequences. I believe that it is largely a positive development because it provides people greater choice and allows to express their individuality.
One major reason why global fashion has become so influential is the widespread of social media platforms. People can now see clothing and fashion trends in all world within few seconds. Moreover, influencers and celebrities also plays a major role to influence people because they put a lot of contribuition to promote different brands and fashions. Therefore millions of followers adopt similar fashions. While online shopping has made fashionable clothing easy access to purchase, as well as international brands have expanded into manu countries. People are many exposed to global trends rather than relying on local and traditional trends. For example a young people in Pakistan can purchase types of clothing that have become popular in United States or in England.
However, there are also some drawbacks. For example a consistently changing trends put pressure on people and encourage to overconsumption, and people may purchase clothes they do not really need. This has caused environmental problems and contribute to textile waste. Nevertheless, these disadvantages can be reduced if people choose wisely and purchase sustainable clothes.
In conclusion, global fashion has become highly influential because of social media, international businesses, and online shopping. I believe its wider range of choices and opportunities for self-expression make it a predominantly positive development.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, identifying the drivers of global fashion (social media, brands, online shopping) and providing a clear position on whether it is a positive or negative development. The ideas are relevant and generally well-developed. However, the explanation of why it is a positive development could be more deeply explored to reach a higher band. The position is consistent throughout the essay, and the conclusion effectively summarizes the main points. To improve, ensure that the supporting examples, such as the mention of Pakistan, are more fully integrated into the argument to demonstrate a deeper analysis of the global impact.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Each paragraph has a central theme, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Therefore', and 'However' are used effectively to link sentences and ideas. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the causes from the drawbacks. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions could be more sophisticated to avoid a slightly mechanical feel. Overall, the structure is clear and supports the development of the argument well.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task and allows for clear communication. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'overconsumption' and 'sustainable', which are used correctly. However, there are some minor inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'widespread of social media' (should be 'widespread use of') and 'contribuition' (spelling error). The range is sufficient to express ideas, but a wider variety of precise, topic-specific collocations would elevate the score. The errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more precise lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'allows to express' (should be 'allows people to express'), 'plays a major role to influence' (should be 'plays a major role in influencing'), and 'a young people' (should be 'young people'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors. While these errors do not impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the accuracy of complex structures and refining subject-verb agreement will help improve this score.
