Student answer (Band 6.0)

Nowdays, people's clothing choices are increasingly influenced by fashion trends from around the world. This influence has become particularly strong because of the growth of social media, international trade and global commnication. In my opinion, although global fashion has some disadvantage, it is generally a positive development.

One major reason why global fashion has become so influential is the repos growth of social media and the internet platforms such as instagram, tiktok and youTube allow people to see what celebrities, influencers and ordinary poeple are wearing in different parts of the world. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 181 words long and ends abruptly mid-sentence. This significantly impacts the development of ideas, as the essay is incomplete. While the introduction clearly states a position and the first body paragraph provides relevant reasons for the influence of global fashion, the second body paragraph is cut off before the argument can be fully extended or supported. Consequently, the task is only partially addressed, and the position is not fully developed due to the lack of a conclusion and sufficient supporting evidence.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay demonstrates a basic logical flow. Paragraphing is used to separate the introduction from the body, and cohesive devices such as 'In my opinion', 'One major reason', and 'Firstly' are employed to guide the reader. However, because the text is incomplete, the overall progression is interrupted. Referencing is generally clear, but the sudden termination of the text prevents a cohesive conclusion or a sense of finality, which limits the effectiveness of the organization.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their ideas clearly. There are some spelling errors, such as 'Nowdays' instead of 'Nowadays' and 'commnication' instead of 'communication'. The range of vocabulary is sufficient to discuss the topic, using terms like 'international trade', 'celebrities', and 'influencers'. However, the limited length prevents the demonstration of a wider or more sophisticated range of lexical items that would be required for a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'Although global fashion has some disadvantage, it is generally a positive development.' There are several grammatical errors, including 'some disadvantage' (should be plural), 'a matter of the days' (incorrect article usage), and 'a style that become popular' (tense error). While these errors do not significantly impede communication, they occur frequently enough to suggest a lack of control over more complex structures. Punctuation is generally functional, though there are minor errors like the unnecessary comma in 'In, addition'.
