Student answer (Band 5.5)
Nowadays, people's dress is increasingly occupied by the global fashion trends. While international fashion has become a major part of modern life, I believe that this is a negative development because they encourage to people dress in inappropriate styles and weakens their religious and cultural values. I will talk about why this is a negative development in the paragraphs.
One major reason is that global fashion have a great impact on peoples religious and cultural values Nowadays many young students are dress shamelessly and wearing revealing clothes because they want to be modern but they did not know this is hiram in their relegion. For example, I attended my friend’s sister’s wedding and noticed something unusual. On this occasion, some people did not wear suitable clothes that were appropriate according to their religion and culture. Social media and celebrities are major reasons behind this trend because their fans often try to imitate their favourite celebrities without considering their own cultural and religious values. They are more concerned about looking fashionable and gaining attention than wearing appropriate clothes. As a result, people may gradually lose respect for their traditional values and cultural norms.
Global fashion also the cause of financial pressure because their fabric are owerprize which is not affordable for middle-class people, but they try to buy and become modern, and they lose their home budget buying unnecessary things. For example a poor father daughter insist to her father buy a formal dress their prize is over to 10 thousand their father dont afford it if they gave to his daughter they do not have enough money for home night meal.
In conclusion, I believe that the growing influence of global fashion is a negative development. It can weaken cultural values, encourage inappropriate dressing, and put pressure on people to follow new trends. People should therefore choose their clothes carefully while respecting their culture, religion, and traditions

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: the influence of global fashion and the writer's opinion on whether it is a positive or negative development. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While the point about cultural values is supported by an example, the second point regarding financial pressure is less effectively developed and relies on a somewhat anecdotal and grammatically unclear scenario. To reach a higher band, the arguments should be more balanced and supported by more sophisticated reasoning rather than relying on personal anecdotes.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. There is a basic attempt at cohesion using transition words like 'One major reason', 'For example', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive. The flow between sentences within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by grammatical errors, which makes the progression of ideas feel slightly disjointed at times. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or non-standard usage, such as 'dress shamelessly', 'hiram' (likely meant 'haram'), and 'owerprize'. These errors occasionally impede the flow of the argument. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited, relying on basic terms to express complex ideas. To improve, you should focus on learning more precise collocations and ensuring that the vocabulary used is appropriate for an academic context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that affect clarity. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'global fashion have', 'their fabric are'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'a poor father daughter insist to her father buy'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with run-on sentences. While the meaning is generally understandable, the high frequency of errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
