Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying the role of social media and expressing a positive opinion. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which severely limits the development of ideas. The arguments regarding cultural exchange and competition are mentioned but lack sufficient depth or illustrative examples to fully satisfy the requirements of the task. Because the response is only 211 words, the development of the position is underdeveloped, preventing it from reaching a higher band score.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body, and conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'In addition', 'For example', and 'Furthermore' are used to link ideas. However, the progression of ideas is somewhat mechanical, and the conclusion is grammatically incomplete and repetitive. While the overall structure is coherent, the limited length prevents the use of more sophisticated cohesive devices or a more nuanced flow of arguments.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, using terms like 'international brands', 'influencers', and 'express themselves'. However, there are instances of awkward phrasing, such as 'people dress' instead of 'the way people dress' and 'culture dresses trend'. The range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and repetitive, and there are minor errors in word choice that occasionally affect the precision of the message.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'how the celebrities promoting' (should be 'how celebrities promote') and 'lead a better quality' (should be 'lead to better quality'). Punctuation is generally functional, but the sentence structure in the conclusion is fragmented. While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of errors in basic sentence construction prevents a higher score.
