Task 2

Globalization has ushered an era of consumerism and it has become inevitable part of everyday life. In refrence to this the way people dress today are highly influenced by global fashion trends. The main reason behind this global success is digital media platforms and I strongly believe it is a negative development.

There are several reasons to talk why global fashion become a strong influence on people's lives today, but the predominant one is digital media. These days, many people prefers to use social media apps and they post their images and videos on these apps. These posts spread on such apps in a minute and reachs through millions of people. As a result, fashion becomes a trend in a day . A clear illustration to prove my stance, social media apps such as tiktok and instagram works on real-time interaction of people preferences. Hence, social media posts of an influencer widespread throughout the world and people may start following their personality and style.

In my opinion, it has a negative effect on society because adoption of global fashion lead to loss of local tradition and culture. It may influenced the person to follow other culture. To cite an example, rapid adoption of western culture trends causes people to abandon traditional garments (like sarees, folk wear) in daily life, leading to a loss of cultural identity. Moreover, increasing mass production directly impacts the local manufactures. They may face high compition from interational brands in terms of affordability and availability of a products. Therefore, it is a negative development.

In conclusion, digital media influences the people to follow global fashion trends.I firmly believe it is a negative development as this directly harms the local retailers and cause the loss of culture and tradition.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: explaining the influence of global fashion and providing a clear opinion on whether it is a positive or negative development. The position is consistent throughout the essay. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention digital media and cultural loss, the arguments could be further extended with more nuanced analysis or specific examples. For instance, the point about local manufacturers is relevant but remains brief. To reach a higher band, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with deeper reasoning rather than just stating the impact.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'In my opinion', 'Moreover', and 'To cite an example', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'In refrence to this'. Additionally, the referencing within sentences could be smoother to improve the flow. Overall, the structure is coherent, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'consumerism', 'predominant', and 'cultural identity'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'inevitable part' (missing 'an'), 'widespread' used as a verb, and 'compition'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and word forms. To improve, focus on learning the correct grammatical function of words (e.g., 'widespread' is an adjective, not a verb) and expanding your range of academic collocations.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement ('many people prefers', 'apps... works', 'fashion... cause') and article usage ('an era', 'a products'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To move to a higher band, you should focus on proofreading for basic agreement errors and ensuring that verb forms match their subjects consistently. Increasing the variety of complex structures while maintaining accuracy will also help improve your score.
