Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, identifying reasons for the influence of global fashion and expressing a clear positive stance. However, the essay is under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of development. While the ideas are relevant, they are somewhat repetitive and lack specific, concrete examples to support the arguments. The explanation of how fashion influences lives is quite general, and the link between fashion trends and job creation is asserted rather than clearly explained. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detailed illustrations and ensure you meet the minimum word count requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organised into paragraphs, and there is a basic logical progression. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Therefore', and 'To conclude', but these are sometimes used mechanically or incorrectly (e.g., 'To embark upon' is not a standard introductory phrase). The referencing is occasionally unclear, and the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed. To reach a higher band, focus on using a wider variety of linking words more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence that directly supports your main argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'it is argued issue' instead of 'it is a debated issue', and 'appositive development' instead of 'a positive development'. You also use 'attire' incorrectly as a verb in this context. While the meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there are noticeable errors in word formation and collocation that occasionally hinder the flow of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'global fashion styles is an positive development'), article usage (e.g., 'the huge inspiration'), and incorrect prepositional phrases. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While these errors do not completely prevent communication, they are frequent enough to distract the reader. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like pluralisation and verb tense consistency.
