Student answer (Band 5.0)

in this modern era, the fashion trend has changed frequently in the recent years and till now. numerous individuals dress today are influenced by the global fashion trends and became significant today's people lives. according to my point of view, this trend is negative development. this essay will not only elaborate negative effect on the society but also my point of view will be highlighted in the conclusion.

Commencing with the most salient reason why this notion is negative. initially, if the humans will follow the global trend then their own culture traditions and dresses value will be dimnish. as their tradtional dresses will not found anywhere and all these things only remain in the books of their own religion. Although, each religion has their own dresses which is imperative in their life and they also exhibit their tradtion from which they belongs to. for instance, in India now the todays generation is following the western trends and forget their dress of their religion and do not know much about it, as every traditional clothes comfortably wear without and problem , but now they feel shy by wearing it as it is old fashioned clothes, frequently wearing modern dresses which also cost higher then tradtional dresses.

on the other hand, if the individuals will only follow modern dresses, then their relgion value will be decreased, and if someone ask about their relgion dress up then they have no answer that how it looks like. moreover, in the society, they feel shame when they move outside because their majority of humans will not accept them in modernised dress.

in conclusion, this negative development as it lower the value of their cast and religion, every people looks nice if they wear their traditional dress. although, the global trend clothes are much higher as compared to tradtional dress.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the causes of global fashion's influence and stating a clear position that it is a negative development. The ideas regarding the loss of traditional culture, religious values, and social pressure are relevant, but they tend to be repetitive rather than fully extended. The arguments in body paragraphs one and two overlap considerably, discussing how traditional dresses are abandoned due to social shaming and higher costs. While a clear stance is maintained throughout, the lack of varied supporting examples prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Overall, it satisfies the basic requirements of Task Response for a Band 5.5, showing some development of ideas despite limited elaboration.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay has a recognisable structure with an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an attempt at logical progression. However, paragraphing is poorly executed; the paragraphs lack internal unity and standard capitalisation, and some sentences run together awkwardly. Cohesive devices are either misused or overused, such as 'commencing with the most salient reason' and 'on the other hand,' which are applied inappropriately to structure ideas that are not genuinely contrasting. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the mechanical transition between points impedes the overall flow. These issues reflect the descriptors for Band 5, where organisation lacks clear overall progression and cohesive devices are frequently inaccurate.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited and basic, containing frequent inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. Examples include 'dimnish' (diminish), 'tradtional dresses will not found anywhere,' and 'cast' instead of caste or heritage. There are also frequent spelling mistakes, such as 'relgion' and 'modernised,' alongside awkward phrasing like 'every traditional clothes comfortably wear without and problem.' While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the core argument about fashion trends and cultural loss, the persistent lexical errors and lack of less common vocabulary place this response firmly at Band 5.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5

Grammatical control is weak throughout the essay, with a notable absence of standard punctuation, capitalisation, and correct sentence boundaries. Many sentences contain severe structural errors, such as 'numerous individuals dress today are influenced' and 'as their tradtional dresses will not found anywhere.' Complex sentence attempts are frequently faulty, leading to confusion. There are persistent errors in verb forms, articles, and active/passive voice. While simple meaning is occasionally communicated, the high frequency of basic grammatical errors that cause difficulty for the reader aligns with the Band 4.5 descriptors.
