Student answer (Band 5.5)
In today's world, everyone is talking about trendy things, and the most popular trend is global fashion. Additionally, the aspects of the way people dress today is influenced by global fashion trends. In my estimation, this is a positive development to follow and feel comfortable around everyone.
Firstly, some Inuit think that pursuing modern fashion is prohibited for young generation, due to the fact that they will not prefer their own culture. They have some fears, like youth will be unaware of their basics or that they can be out of roots in fashion, whereas some other people feel that they should not be inspired by international trends. If people do not prefer their own things, consequently, their economy can decline, and they are not able to do anything on their own.
On the other hand, numerous families are inspired by global fashion; anything that is trendy, they want to try. Some people desperately wait for the new fashion so they can try it. I believe that people who prefer to follow international trends, they have a lively personality. Moreover, those individuals who have public figure accounts on social media positively represent their nation. Their chances of being involved in the fashion world become stronger, and this act can boost their career.
Taking everything into account, those who are influenced by global fashion have a solid opportunity to boost their career on an international level, whereas those who do not prefer that kind of dress may have their own fears or priorities.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing why global fashion has become influential and giving an opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and occasionally unclear. For instance, the mention of some Inuit thinking modern fashion is prohibited is an unusual and underdeveloped argument that lacks sufficient elaboration to fully convince the reader. Furthermore, the position taken in the conclusion largely focuses on career boosting rather than fully synthesizing the broader cultural impacts discussed in the body paragraphs. While the prompt is addressed, the ideas remain somewhat general and lack depth. Therefore, the performance aligns best with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, separating the introduction, two body paragraphs, and the conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes faulty or mechanical. Words like 'Firstly' and 'On the other hand' are used to structure the text, but the logical transitions between sentences can be abrupt. For example, the progression from discussing cultural fears in the second paragraph to public figures in the third paragraph feels disjointed. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen in phrases like 'anything that is trendy, they want to try', where pronoun reference is slightly loose. Consequently, the organization reflects the characteristics of a Band 6 performance.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'global fashion trends', 'international trends', and 'lively personality'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation. For example, stating that 'everyone is talking about trendy things' is rather simplistic and colloquial. Additionally, phrases like 'out of roots in fashion' and 'public figure accounts' demonstrate awkward phrasing and lexical control that falls short of higher bands. Although these errors do not impede overall communication, the limitations in vocabulary flexibility and precision place this response firmly in the Band 6 category.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as 'due to the fact that they will not prefer their own culture' and conditional forms like 'If people do not prefer their own things, consequently, their economy can decline'. However, there are several grammatical errors and awkward structures throughout the text. For instance, 'the aspects of the way people dress today is influenced' contains a subject-verb agreement error, and 'people who prefer to follow international trends, they have a lively personality' suffers from a dangling subject. While these errors rarely impede communication and the writer shows basic control, the frequency of inaccuracies limits the score to a Band 5.5.
