Student answer (Band 5.5)
People of today's era are overwhelmingly influenced by the trends of global fashion. It has become such a strong influence on people lives and gained attention of the world. It has some positive as well as some negative development on peoples mindset.
Social media played a significant role in influencing people's lives. It has also arouse fashion sense in a generation that still follows the traditional and old-fashioned trends. Now people are focusing on their appearences as well. Global fashion has no doubt changed the whole perspective of appearence. People have started focusing on the latest trends. But the major cons of global fashion is its rapid change in trends. The trends have started changing so rapidly that it has ignited the urge of shopping despite of no need.
Fashion trends have become a global icon now. People see it on social media, it attrects them and follows it immediately. This has become concerning for the ones who can't afford to buy it feels inferior. The inferiority complexion made people think they are not worthy enough. The urgency to buy and then a showoff of the trend has become so normal that it is hurting people's feelings. However when the trend reach down after peaking, it bothers people wearing the same shirt that once they are dyeing to bought it. Wearing the same by the time have become so complex that people started questioning.
In conclusion with, the fashion trends make people think about their appearence and lead them to modernity. On the other hand it has made things normal that are not supposed to be normal for example wearing the same cloths daily. So despite its positive side it has some negative aspects as well, that needs to be considerate.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing both why global fashion has become such a strong influence and whether this is a positive or negative development. The writer adopts a clear stance, noting that global fashion leads to modernity and self-expression but also creates negative pressures regarding consumerism and social comparison. However, the ideas are somewhat limited and repetitive, especially in the body paragraphs where points about social media, appearance, and rapid trend cycles are revisited without full expansion or varied supporting examples. For instance, the discussion on inferiority and the pressure to shop could be further supported by concrete examples. Consequently, the task achievement aligns best with a Band 6.0 descriptor, as all parts are addressed with relevant ideas, but some points remain under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a discernible introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is attempted, though paragraph boundaries and internal structures are occasionally disjointed. For example, the third paragraph blends multiple ideas—social media, inferiority, and shifting trends—making the progression somewhat erratic. Cohesive devices are used, but they are sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In conclusion with,' and abrupt transitions between sentences like 'People see it on social media, it attrects them and follows it immediately.' Referencing is also occasionally unclear, as seen with pronoun ambiguity regarding what 'it' or 'the same' refers to. Therefore, the response fits the Band 5.5 to 6.0 profile, earning a Band 6.0 for a generally coherent structure despite faulty cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'overwhelmingly,' 'consumerism' (implied), and 'inferiority complexion.' However, there are noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'appearences' instead of 'appearances,' 'attrects' for 'attracts,' 'dying to bought it' instead of 'dying to buy it,' and 'cloths' instead of 'clothes.' Furthermore, awkward phrasings like 'inferiority complexion' (instead of inferiority complex) and 'reach down after peaking' indicate limited control over collocation and fixed expressions. While communication is not severely impeded, these frequent lexical inaccuracies keep the response firmly at a Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some capacity for varied structures. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, featuring frequent errors in tense consistency, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions. Examples include 'It has also arouse fashion sense' (should be 'aroused'), 'despite of no need' (should be 'despite having no need'), and 'that needs to be considerate' (should be 'considered'). Additionally, sentence boundary issues and awkward relative clauses appear, such as 'The trends have started changing so rapidly that it has ignited the urge of shopping despite of no need.' Because errors occur frequently and occasionally cause some difficulty or hesitation for the reader, this performance corresponds to a Band 5.0.
