Student answer (Band 6.0)
In todays fast changing era, people's clothing choice has largely been affected by global trends of fashion, which subsequently has also impacted people's way of living. While there grows an adaptive mentality to follow the mainstream trends and an oppurtunity to learn, grow and diversify people's mindset, there also prevails continuous financial stresss on the consumer's end and brands monopoly impacting the growing new and alternative businesses, for which, I strongly belive that the development has a lasting negative influence on people's lives and mindsets.
On the one hand, following the global fashion trends attract multiple possibilities. It helps to analyze the current demand and arrange the approach to manufacture new products that will surely fulfil the growing needs. This approach also reduces the gap between demand and supply and attract new consumers into the market. It fosters confidence to invest in new clothing items and multiply the sectors and create a sustainable brand name, since following trends has large sale value. For example, Brand such as Loui Vitton sponsors renowned footballers like Messi and Ronaldo to advertise and apprear in their new product for marketing and to make people aware of their presence.
On the other hands, global fashion trends enforce consumers to buy expensive new products tempted with their favourite stars's presence in some advertisement, which in fact put enoromous pressure and burden on their finance, income and lifestyle. This also creates a feeling of missing out when your friends and circles are following after a ceratin trendy things, and you are not, which hampers social life. Moreover, small and local businesses struggle more due tothe massive exposure of trendy products over a long time, which inhibits to showcase their creative products and hence contracts their market. It might be beneficial for large companies, but not fruitful for the overall global economy by preventing from decentralization of markets and monopoly of influencial brands.
In conclusion, although global fashion trends allow people express their freedom of choice and adapt with new popular things, it creates substantial threat to small scale merchandizers and put negative effect on people socio-ecomical situations. I believe, a balanced approach between the two; ensuring the affordability, reach to all classes of people and motivating the alternative business efforts to grow and expand, is the appropiate way to move forward.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The student addresses all parts of the two-part prompt, examining both the causes of global fashion's influence and taking a clear position on whether it is a positive or negative development, ultimately arguing it is negative. The ideas are generally relevant and extended, though at times the argument shifts slightly between economic benefits in the first main body paragraph and disadvantages in the second. For example, the student discusses how following trends helps manufacturers and creates brand names like 'Loui Vitton', before pivoting to argue that the overall development is negative. The response covers all aspects well, earning a solid Band 7 for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear overall progression and logical organisation. Paragraphing is used appropriately, with a clear introduction, two main body paragraphs exploring different sides of the issue, and a concluding paragraph. Cohesive devices are employed reasonably well, using phrases like 'On the one hand', 'On the other hands', and 'In conclusion' to signal structure. However, there are some minor mechanical errors in cohesion and referencing, such as 'On the other hands' (plural noun error) and occasional awkward transitional phrasing. Nevertheless, the progression of ideas remains clear throughout, justifying a Band 6.5 or 7.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate to good range of vocabulary suitable for an academic task, attempting less common items such as 'subsequently', 'decentralization', 'monopoly', and 'socio-economical'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'todays', 'fast changing', 'oppurtunity', 'stresss', 'belive', 'apprear', 'enoromous', 'ceratin', 'due tothe', 'merchandizers', and 'appropiate'. These errors show that while a flexible range is attempted, control over less common lexical items and spelling is inconsistent, which points firmly to a Band 6.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The student displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, attempting ambitious multi-clause sentences such as 'While there grows an adaptive mentality to follow the mainstream trends and an oppurtunity to learn, grow and diversify people's mindset...'. There are, however, frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('there grows an adaptive mentality', 'brands monopoly', 'trends enforce consumers'), missing articles, and awkward prepositions ('reach to all classes'). Despite these errors, meaning is rarely impeded, and the range of structures used supports a Band 6.
