Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: how global fashion influences lives and whether this is a positive or negative development. The writer presents a clear position regarding social media's role and its impact on culture. However, the ideas are relatively basic and lack sufficient depth and academic extension. For instance, while the writer mentions how farmers and youngsters use social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok, the explanation relies heavily on generalized statements rather than fully developed analytical points. The example of the 6-pocket jacket in Pakistan adds some relevance, but it remains at a descriptive level rather than being thoroughly explored to support the overarching argument. Consequently, the response aligns best with the Band 5 descriptor where ideas are present but remain somewhat limited and under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The organizational structure of the essay shows significant flaws that impede clear progression. The introduction contains repetitive and unneeded conversational filler instead of a clear outline of the essay's direction. Paragraphing is poorly handled, featuring very short, abrupt transitional sentences such as 'From my perspective, there are various viewpoints to consider.' Furthermore, the main body paragraph is excessively long and crams multiple ideas together without adequate breaks. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or repetitively, such as the excessive comma splices and run-on sentences. For example, 'Global fashion has strong influence on people lives, because of the use of social media, now a days the usage of social media applications are very common around the world...' These structural weaknesses place the response firmly in the Band 5 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical range is limited and frequently repetitive. The student relies on basic, everyday vocabulary such as 'dress up', 'people', 'culture', and 'good'. There are several noticeable lexical and spelling errors, including 'scientifical' instead of scientific, 'upcomming', 'represt', 'alsoo', and 'moosa wala'. Word choice is sometimes unnatural, such as 'dressing sense' or 'what kind of shoes men wears'. While the vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey basic meaning, the frequent spelling mistakes and lack of sophisticated phrasing prevent the essay from achieving a higher band score. The lexical control matches the descriptors for Band 5, where noticeable errors can cause some difficulty for the reader.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
Grammatically, the response struggles with sentence boundaries and complex structures. The text contains severe punctuation errors, notably frequent comma splices and run-on sentences, such as 'Global fashion has strong influence on people lives, because of the use of social media, now a days the usage of social media applications are very common...' Subject-verb agreement errors are also present, such as 'what kind of shoes men wears' and 'the usage of social media applications are'. While the writer attempts some complex structures, they are often faulty and lack proper subordination. The sheer frequency of structural and punctuation errors places this performance at a Band 4 level, as errors constantly strain the reader's comprehension.
