Student answer (Band 6.5)
Many people today are influenced by the fashion trends of all over the world. The global fashion trends have impacted individuals choices and opinions about the way they dress. Although there are particular reasons for this impact, it is my contention that this is a negative development owing to superiority complex, inefficient sustainability choices and affordability.
People from different parts of the world are connected to eachother by social media. It is very easy to know about the ongoing trends related to all fields of life. Moreover, fashion is particulary a stream that catches the attention of a variety of audience all over the social media. People become influenced by different fashion related content. For instance, people like to imitate the dressing sense of their favorite celebrities or models to fit themselves in the society by showcasing their taste and awareness of the trends. Additionally, in the era where dress designers have become popular they attract large number of people to have an insight to the fashion trends that involves renowned users to create an influence on the people.
These certain aspects that are changing the perspectives of people to dress and style is detrimental in many ways. Firstly, people who follow high-end fashion trends consider themselves close to the celebrities they follow and consider it as way to fit in the elite society. Moreover, luxury attire that is manufactured from costly material is likely to create an imbalanced approach towards sustainability also has potential environmental affects. For instance, luxury handbags or coats crafted from animal fur and skin endagers species and is somewhat unethical. Furthermore, people who cannot afford such global fashion trends are likely to have a complex related to their choice of fashion. Many youngsters are likely to be influenced by such glamour so if they are unable to follow the trends they are going to have problems.
In consequence, media pesence has allowed individuals to connect with ongoing fashion trends from all around the world but there are many disadvantages related to this global agenda leading to superiority complex among the followers, environmental problems and also cause uncertain situations for the younger generations personally and socially.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt effectively: how global fashion influences people's lives and whether this is a positive or negative development. The writer establishes a clear position in the introduction, arguing that it is a negative development due to a superiority complex, poor sustainability choices, and affordability issues. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as social media connectivity, celebrity imitation, and the environmental impact of luxury materials like animal fur. While the arguments are generally well-developed, some points could be explored with even greater depth to reach the highest bands. Overall, all requirements of the task are adequately met, demonstrating a clear and consistent stance throughout the essay.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay presents a clear logical organization and progression throughout. Information and ideas are coherently structured into an introduction, well-defined body paragraphs, and a concluding summary. Cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Additionally', 'Firstly', and 'Furthermore' are used to connect ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, with each body paragraph focusing on a distinct sub-topic. Referencing is generally clear, though occasional minor slip-ups in phrasing mean cohesion is not entirely seamless, placing the response comfortably within the Band 7 descriptor.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary with some flexibility and precision, using less common items such as 'superiority complex', 'sustainability choices', and 'high-end fashion trends'. There is a good awareness of style and collocation in phrases like 'imitate the dressing sense' and 'luxury attire'. However, there are occasional inaccuracies and spelling or word-choice errors, such as 'endagers' instead of 'endangers', 'pesence' instead of 'presence', and 'eachother' instead of 'each other'. These errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the essay from achieving a higher band score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating a willingness to experiment with subordinate clauses and varied structures, such as 'Although there are particular reasons for this impact, it is my contention that...' and 'People who cannot afford such global fashion trends are likely to have a complex...'. There are some grammatical and punctuation errors present, such as missing commas after introductory phrases and subject-verb agreement slips like 'environmental affects' (effects) and 'cause uncertain situations' (causing). However, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede overall communication, ensuring solid performance at this level.
