Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the modern world, the clothes people prefer to wear are mainly influenced by the international trends that are now ruling the world. This essay will examine that why global fashion has become more influential or gaining people's interest and will argue on the fact that how it impact the developement and the mindset of young generation.

Global fashion's dominance generally based on two factors. Firstly, the invlovement of social media like instagram, tiktok and other platforms which become the middle-man in transfering of trends around the globe like the trend which is followed in western culture is transferd to other corners of world within few hours and making it globally accepted fashion. For instance, if the well known personality in any country wear some unique outfit it often appear in local market. Secondly, the availability of multinational brands spread among the various countries offering nearly identical collection regardless of location which means people from any culture are now exposed to any brands and can access any limited range of clothing variety.

In my opinion, this trend is more harmful than beneficial. The most known drawback is that due to this fashion local cultrual idetity is at great risk

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.5

The student attempts to address all parts of the prompt, exploring the causes of global fashion's influence and stating an opinion on whether it is positive or negative. However, due to the truncated nature of the essay—stopping abruptly mid-sentence at 198 words—the second body paragraph and conclusion are severely underdeveloped. The length requirement of 250 words is not met, which strictly caps the task achievement score. Furthermore, the position regarding the negative development is introduced but never fully elaborated or supported with examples, as the text breaks off right after stating 'cultural identity is at great risk.'

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay displays a basic structural framework with a clear introduction and two body paragraphs, though the conclusion is entirely missing. Cohesive devices such as 'Firstly' and 'Secondly' are used to structure the arguments in the second paragraph. However, because the essay ends abruptly, overall progression is disrupted. Paragraphing is attempted, but the final truncated thought prevents full logical completion. Referencing is generally clear, but mechanical transitions limit the flow of ideas, aligning the response with Band 5 descriptors for organizational limitations.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'multinational brands,' 'international trends,' and 'cultural identity.' However, there are notable spelling errors throughout the text, including 'invlovement,' 'transfering,' 'transferd,' 'well known' (hyphenation missing), 'cultrual,' and 'idetity.' Word choices are generally appropriate for conveying basic meaning, but inaccuracies and spelling lapses prevent the score from reaching a higher band. The range is sufficient to discuss the topic, but control over precise spelling and word formation needs improvement.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The student attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as relative clauses ('trends that are now ruling the world') and conditional/temporal clauses ('if the well known personality...'). However, grammatical accuracy is hindered by several errors, including a structural flaw in the introduction ('This essay will examine that why global fashion...'), missing articles, and punctuation issues. There are also sentence boundary slips and run-on tendencies. While communication is not severely impeded in the first half of the essay, the frequency of errors places it firmly in the Band 5 category.
