In the past, peoples are mainly followed traditional clothing styles that were common in their communities. However, the grow of international fashion brands and online shopping has made it easier for people to explore different designs. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response successfully addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the reasons for the strong influence of global fashion and presenting a clear position that it is a positive development. In the introduction, the writer clearly states, 'I strongly agree with this viewpoint.' The arguments are extended throughout the body paragraphs, covering variety, cultural exchange, and personal expression, while also acknowledging potential negative aspects in the fourth paragraph. However, there is a repetitive error where the opening sentence of the second and third body paragraphs is identical: 'The foremost reason why I consider global fashion a positive development is that...' This indicates that ideas are not fully extended in separate, distinct directions, preventing the score from reaching a Band 7. Overall, the task is addressed adequately, earning a Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is coherent overall with a clear structure consisting of an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different main ideas. Cohesive devices are employed to guide the reader through the text, such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion'. However, there are instances of faulty referencing and repetition that detract from the flow. For example, repeating the exact same topic sentence in paragraphs two and three disrupts logical progression. Furthermore, referencing is occasionally imprecise, and the mechanical repetition of transitional phrases places this performance firmly in the Band 6 category.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'cultural exchange', 'international fashion brands', and 'cultural diversity'. However, there are noticeable lexical and spelling inaccuracies that occur throughout the text. Examples include 'individuals believes' (grammar/agreement crossover), 'the grow of international fashion brands' (incorrect noun form 'growth'), 'clothing style' (should be plural), and 'textile west' (spelling error for 'waste'). While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they limit the score. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, matching the criteria for a Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including conditional structures and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly regarding subject-verb agreement and word forms. Examples include 'Some individuals believes', 'global fashion allow', 'peoples are mainly followed', 'fashion can allows', and 'clothing cause of environment pollution'. These errors indicate a lack of full control over grammatical structures and punctuation. Although the meaning is generally clear and communication is rarely impeded, the frequency of basic structural inaccuracies prevents the score from rising above Band 5.5.
