Student answer (Band 5.5)

In today's era, people like to dress according to fashion trends which are all over the world. People are influenced

by these trends, reason is that people are highly influenced by celebrities. I would argue that it is a positive

development. It contributes to keep money rotate.

First and foremost, this is a meterialistic era. A growing number of people are highly influenced and impressed by

celebrities on different social media accounts like tik tok etc. Celebrities and actors are ideal of common people.

People want to see and copy them, what they wear consequently, common people buy those stuff even without knowing will it suit them or not. For instance, from last many years, adaptation can be seen in what people wear. This is mainly due to what the youth is following on social media.

However, in my perspective this is positive development. This is major reason to rotate money all over the world.

Factories and industries are working day and night due to this development and therefore, it provides jobs and earnings

to citizens of a nation. It may also dramatically increase the export of a country. As a result, it greatly contributes

in the economy of a country. For example, trending clothes and shoes industry plays a major role in the export

of some under developed countries and it also helps people in providing source of income.

To conclude, many people are emotionally attached with celebrities like tik tokers, people want to become like them.

What they wear, people copy them. On the other hand, I would say this is positive development as it brings money

in country and many brands are working due to this trend.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt: how global fashion influences people's lives and whether this is a positive or negative development. The writer presents a clear position, stating that the influence stems from celebrities and that this is a positive development because it stimulates the economy. However, the ideas are somewhat under-developed and lack extension. For instance, the argument that money rotates through factories and industries is introduced but not fully explained with deeper elaboration. The examples provided, such as mentioning under-developed countries, are quite general. While the prompt is addressed, the depth of discussion places this response at Band 6.0 according to the task response descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing an overall logical arrangement. Paragraphing is used sufficiently. However, cohesion within sentences and paragraphs is frequently faulty or mechanical. The transition 'However, in my perspective this is positive development' lacks an article, and cohesive devices are somewhat repetitive. Referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the sentence 'People want to see and copy them, what they wear consequently, common people buy those stuff,' where the punctuation and linking of clauses disrupt the flow. These features align closely with the Band 5.0 descriptors, showing some organisation but lacking smooth progression.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, touching upon relevant topics such as 'fashion trends,' 'celebrities,' 'materialistic era,' and 'economy.' However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that impede natural expression, such as 'meterialistic' instead of materialistic, 'buy those stuff' instead of 'buy that stuff' or 'those items,' and repetitive phrasing like 'people want to become like them' and 'people copy them.' Less common vocabulary is attempted with limited success. This falls squarely into Band 5.0, where the lexical range is minimally adequate with noticeable errors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writing exhibits a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence forms, but control is inconsistent. There are frequent grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('It contributes to keep money rotate' instead of 'keep money rotating'), incorrect prepositions ('from last many years' instead of 'for many years'), and run-on sentences ('What they wear, people copy them'). Although these errors rarely completely obscure the core meaning, they occur with high frequency and cause noticeable difficulty for the reader. This performance aligns with Band 5.0 descriptors, characterised by a limited range of structures and frequent errors.
