Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many aspects of the way people dress today are influenced by global fashion trends.
The way people dress nowadays is greatly influenced by the world's fashion trends. Global fashion has become a strong part on people's lives because the world has become a global village which is largely because of the social media presence and celebrity and influencer life. I strongly believe this is a negative development because it has caused many to be bankrupt and has contibuted to the ongoing moral decadence which include immoral dressing.
The world is a global village mostly because of social media and whatever is being done in a part of the world is being seen and viewed in other parts. In recent times, there has been high increase in usage of social media and this has exposed the many people to the lives of others and there is high pressure to replicate the lives that others are living.
This new development has led many to go bankrupt because of the poor financial decision that are being made in order to maintain the quo status of the media society, the pressure to wear and behave like celebrity has made many to borrow money to buy clothes, shoes and makeup kit. For example, many young girls has been using a wig called 'Tiwa wig' this was named after a celebrity called Tiwa salvage, many university students will borrow money from loan apps and some many even use this school fees to buy the wig. This poor financial decisions has made many students to be suspended from school because school fees could not be paid.
Furthermore, this has led to increase rate of immoral and indecent dressing among youths especually young girls there is always a quest to look like their celebrity idols.
In conclusion, the way people dress is largely influenced global fashion dress this is because of social media influence and it has a negative influence which includes poor financial decision and immoral dressing.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt: how global fashion has become influential and whether this is a positive or negative development. The writer takes a clear negative stance, arguing that fashion trends lead to poor financial decisions and moral decadence. Ideas are extended with relevant examples, such as the mention of the 'Tiwa wig' and students borrowing money from loan apps. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise and could be better supported with deeper elaboration or varied examples. Overall, the task is adequately covered, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate ideas. Cohesive devices are employed, but referencing and transitions are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For example, expressions like 'this new development has led many...' or 'Furthermore, this has led to...' are somewhat repetitive and basic. Additionally, some sentences lack smooth logical progression, requiring the reader to work harder to follow the argument. These features place the response firmly in the Band 6 category.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'moral decadence', 'global village', and 'financial decisions'. However, there are noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'become a strong part on people's lives', 'maintain the quo status', and 'increase rate of immoral'. Spelling and word-choice errors occur ('contibuted', 'especually'), but they do not impede communication. The lexical range is minimally sufficient for a Band 6 score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure. However, frequent grammatical errors are present throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('many young girls has been using', 'poor financial decisions has made'), missing articles, and punctuation errors. Run-on sentences and comma splices also occur, such as in the final sentence of the third paragraph. While these errors do not severely impede communication, they restrict the score to Band 5.0.
