Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response attempts to address both parts of the prompt, discussing the global influence of fashion and giving a personal perspective on whether it is a positive or negative development. However, the ideas are often under-developed and drift into tangential storytelling, such as the lengthy specific anecdote about 'DR JHON' in 1998, which fails to effectively illustrate the broader social forces behind global fashion trends. Furthermore, the position taken in the conclusion—that people cannot survive without fashion—is extreme and unsupported by coherent societal examples. While all required parts of the prompt are touched upon, the lack of clear, logical idea extension limits the overall task response quality. This places the response comfortably at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the overall organization and logical progression are frequently hindered by weak transitions and mechanical cohesive devices, such as 'Initially', 'Secondaly', and 'Thus'. The referencing is sometimes unclear, and sentences within paragraphs do not always flow smoothly from one idea to the next. For example, the transition from the general discussion of TV shows to the specific 1998 university professor example feels disjointed. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal coherence is strained due to erratic sentence structures and repetitive connectors. These characteristics align with the Band 5 descriptor for Coherence and Cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is very limited and often repetitive, featuring frequent word-choice errors and non-standard derivations like 'modran', 'nomerous', 'intrest', 'fashioned', and 'sarminar'. The student attempts some less common items such as 'fashion designing' and 'global fashion trends', but inaccurate collocations and incorrect forms severely restrict precision. Spelling errors are widespread and occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Although the student demonstrates a minimally adequate vocabulary to express basic thoughts about clothes and trends, the numerous lexical inaccuracies prevent the writing from reaching Band 5.5, making Band 5.0 the most accurate reflection.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, and attempts at complex sentences are frequently faulty. There are persistent, dense errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('many fashion has been developed', 'people does not wear'), incorrect verb tenses ('lives in a simple manner' instead of 'live', 'that people watched'), and missing articles. Punctuation and capitalization are also problematic. These errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and demonstrate that the student does not have reliable control over basic sentence construction, consistent with the Band 5 descriptor.
