Student answer (Band 4.0)

From my prespective, people dress today are influenced by global fashion trends because its helps us to identify ours culture, traditions, and others. Global fashion became strong influence on people's lives because people follow trends to looks good looking , smarts and other so on.

In my opinion there is positive as well as negative impact on development.

Firstly, there are lots of positive development of global fashion trends. people follow them to know there culture, or to develop good communication skill. Its helps them to represents their countries, to make proud of their nations. For instance, global fashion helps to make model, celebratities and famous. people also eggar to learn dress up to looks attractive, dashing and good lookings.

On the other hands, Its has various negative impact on development, were people forget their tradition this helps to show negative impact in our community. people makes wrong judgement of their dressing sense. people make fun of its , and they judge their manners, behaviours etc.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement, containing only 173 words compared to the required 250 words. This under-length severely limits the development of ideas. While the writer attempts to address both parts of the prompt—discussing why global fashion influences people and whether this is positive or negative—the arguments are superficial and lack adequate support. For example, the statement 'people follow trends to looks good looking, smarts' remains undeveloped. There is a position presented, but it is obscured by limited expansion, over-generalisation, and incomplete thoughts, such as 'Global fashion make older group people ashmed'. Consequently, this performance aligns closely with Band 4 descriptors for Task Achievement due to minimal development and the failure to meet the length requirement.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text displays some organizational structure through the use of paragraph breaks and basic signposts like 'Firstly' and 'On the other hands'. However, the overall progression is disjointed, and information is not arranged coherently throughout the essay. Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs lack internal unity and clear logical links between sentences. Cohesive devices are either misused or inadequate, such as the incorrect use of pluralisation and transitional phrases ('were people forget', 'This helps to show negative impact'). Referencing is frequently unclear, making it difficult for the reader to follow the train of thought. These features reflect the characteristics of a Band 4 performance in terms of coherence and cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent word-choice and collocation errors that strain the reader's understanding. Examples include 'good looking', 'smarts', 'eGGar to learn dress up', and 'ashmed'. The range of vocabulary is strictly limited and inadequate for discussing academic topics flexibly or with precision. Less common lexical items are attempted but used inaccurately (e.g., 'celebratities and famous'). Spelling mistakes are also present ('prespective', 'its helps'). Because the lexical choices are repetitive and cause noticeable difficulty for the reader, the response warrants a Band 4 for lexical resource.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is very limited, relying primarily on simple sentence structures with frequent errors in complex attempts. There are persistent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement ('people dress today are influenced', 'its helps'), missing articles, and incorrect word forms ('good looking', 'smarts'). Punctuation and capitalization are also inconsistent throughout the text. These errors occur frequently and occasionally distort the intended meaning, causing significant difficulty for the reader. Therefore, the grammatical accuracy and range fall squarely within the Band 4 descriptor category.
