Student answer (Band 6.0)
The mordern world we reside in today as numerous trends and patterns that are followed by masses. This is largely due to the social media platforms available today which connects the entire world together. Currently, one of the most influential topic is fashion and I strongly believe that viewers are influenced by global fashion trends.
The wave of social media has a tremendous role in influencing the lives of the audience. The designers introduce new designs and styles and these are promoted by celebrated artists and influencers, since they have a humongous fan base. The followers who tend to immitate the lifestyles of these celebrities often end up purchasing those outfits profiting the designers. For instance, a content creator promotes oxidised jewellery of a new brand for a barter colab, a fascinated viewer ends up ordering the products and sharing the same to their friends and family.
I believe such trends can be both a positive as well as a negative development. Today, age is not a barrier to enter social media where kids and adults are equally invested, thus, no filteration of content. A child watching videos piercing or tattoos, or revealing clothes ends up yearning for those materials creating a bad influence of others and as well as a problem for parents. On the other hand, it can have some positive changes as well. New trends like skorts have captured a large proportion of the market. This platform can also be used to bring back the ancient culture with the twist of modern era creating fusion and comfort for everyone.
In conclusions, trends become huge when public provides attention thus, it completely depends on us on what we want to promote and what not.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing both how global fashion has become influential and presenting views on whether this development is positive or negative. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. The first main body paragraph explains the mechanism of influence via social media, celebrities, and influencers, supporting the points with a relevant personal example of content creators and oxidised jewellery. The third paragraph balances positive and negative aspects, mentioning issues like inappropriate content for children alongside positive trends like modern fusions of ancient culture. While some ideas could be slightly more extended to reach the highest bands, the task is successfully and fully addressed, earning a solid Band 6.5.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a logical progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct parts of the prompt. Cohesive devices such as 'Currently', 'On the other hand', and 'For instance' are employed to guide the reader through the text, although referencing and linkage occasionally feel slightly mechanical (e.g., 'In conclusions'). Paragraph transitions are generally clear, but the logical flow between sentences could be smoothed further with more advanced cohesive techniques to reach a higher band level. Overall, the organizational structure is effective and easy to follow, justifying a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, with attempts to incorporate less common lexical items such as 'humongous', 'immitate', 'filteration', and 'yearning'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('mordern', 'immitate', 'filteration', 'conclusions') and occasional issues with word choice and collocation. Phrases like 'barter colab' and 'bringing back the ancient culture with the twist of modern era' demonstrate a mix of functional vocabulary and informality. The range is sufficient to communicate the writer's ideas clearly, but inaccuracies prevent the lexical score from reaching Band 7.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including relative clauses and conditional-style constructions. There are, however, several grammatical errors throughout the text. For instance, subject-verb agreement issues occur in the opening sentence ('as numerous trends' instead of 'are numerous trends' or 'there are numerous trends'), and punctuation or preposition errors appear, such as 'influence of others' instead of 'influence on others'. Despite these errors, meaning is rarely impeded, and the majority of simple sentences are constructed accurately, supporting a Band 6.0 rating.
