Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, explaining why global fashion has become influential and expressing a clear position that this is a positive development. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as traditional Pakistani bridal wear gaining global recognition and local brands expanding internationally. However, the development tends to be slightly general in places, and some explanations lack depth. For instance, the economic link is touched upon but could be explored with more nuance. Overall, the writer meets the requirements for Band 6.0 as all parts of the task are addressed with relevant ideas, though some areas remain somewhat under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as cultural adoption versus economic growth. However, cohesion within and between sentences is sometimes mechanical or faulty, seen in transitions like 'Looking on one hand' and 'Looking on the other hand', which are awkward phrasings. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and logical progression is disrupted by mechanical links and minor structural awkwardness. These features place the response firmly in the Band 6.0 category, where cohesion is sometimes faulty and referencing is not always completely clear.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'universal fashion methods', 'cultural values', and 'economic stability'. However, there are notable spelling errors throughout the text, including 'infuencing', 'adoptation', 'buisness', 'familirity', 'finacial', 'oulets', 'tousand', 'customors', 'effecting', and 'ultimatly'. While these errors do not severely impede communication because the context remains clear, their frequency prevents the score from reaching Band 6.5 or higher. Word choices are sometimes imprecise, reflecting an adequate but limited lexical resource that aligns with Band 5.5.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure through conditional-style clauses and relative clauses. However, grammatical errors are frequent throughout the response. Examples include missing articles ('In new era', 'at global level'), subject-verb agreement issues ('trend get', 'trends infuence', 'people follows'), and preposition misuse ('dress up' instead of simply 'dress', 'dress from chitral'). Punctuation is also basic. Although these errors rarely impede communication entirely, their high frequency across most sentences means the writing does not sustain error-free control, making Band 5.0 the most appropriate descriptor matching this level of accuracy.
