Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by discussing the causes of global fashion's strong influence and evaluating whether this development is positive or negative. A position is presented, though it is slightly confusingly phrased in the introduction ("how it reserve cultural heritage"). Ideas are present, such as comfort, globalization, and the threat to local traditions, but they remain somewhat underdeveloped and repetitive, particularly in the body paragraphs. For instance, the reference to Pakistani local shops of embroidered outfits is a good specific example, but the overall exploration of both sides lacks full extension. This performance aligns with the Band 6 descriptors, where all parts of the task are addressed, but some ideas are under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The response is arranged with a clear paragraph structure, utilizing standard introductory and concluding remarks alongside two body paragraphs representing opposing views. Cohesive devices are employed, such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'To sum up', although some transitions feel mechanical or misused, such as 'With my perspective' instead of 'In my perspective'. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate advantages and disadvantages. However, referencing and logical progression are occasionally faulty, and some sentences feel disjointed. Overall organisation is coherent, satisfying the requirements for Band 6.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student displays an adequate vocabulary range to communicate ideas about fashion, globalization, and culture, using terms like 'globalisation', 'multinational companies', and 'cultural heritage'. However, there are notable word-choice and collocation errors throughout the text, such as 'traditional wearings' instead of 'traditional attire', 'people influence about' instead of 'people are influenced by', and 'formal pant shirt'. Spelling errors also occur, such as 'educayional' and 'similiar'. While less common vocabulary is attempted, the inaccuracies place this response firmly at Band 5.5, rounded to 5.5 as per standard half-band increments.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating subordinating conjunctions like 'although' and 'when'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors that occasionally impede fluency and comprehension. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('western clothing styles has become'), incorrect passive/active voice usage ('Many people influence about'), and awkward phrasing ('this trends can contribute hurdles'). Punctuation and article usage also show persistent flaws. Because errors are frequent and sometimes cause difficulty for the reader, this corresponds to a Band 5.0.
