Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing reasons why global fashion influences lives—such as social media, influencers, and actors like Henry Cavill and Tom Cruise—and briefly touching upon whether this is positive or negative. However, the ideas are often repetitive and lack deep development or clear extension. For instance, the discussion on whether trends are positive or negative bounces between general statements without strong supporting arguments or fully articulated reasoning. While a position is discernible, the overall treatment of the topic remains somewhat superficial, aligning best with Band 5 descriptors where ideas are limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into multiple paragraphs, but the logical progression and overall flow are frequently disrupted by abrupt shifts in ideas and repetitive structures. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately, such as starting multiple sentences with 'Trends are not...' or 'Global fashion...'. Paragraphing is attempted, but individual paragraphs often lack a clear central topic sentence, leading to disjointed arguments. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall arrangement feels mechanical rather than naturally progressive, which is characteristic of Band 5 performance.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple terms like 'trends', 'fashion', and 'people'. There are noticeable lexical errors and awkward collocations throughout the text, such as 'gives a huge remarks on peoples lives', 'follows that trends that were in high reach', and 'creepy trend'. While the writer attempts some less common vocabulary items like 'influence', 'generation', and 'development', inaccuracies in word choice and form (e.g., 'peoples lives', 'actress or Bollywood actors') restrict the lexical range to a minimally adequate level for the task, placing it firmly at Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The text displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences. Attempts at more complex structures are frequently faulty or marred by basic errors in agreement, tense, and article usage (e.g., 'People follows that trends', 'Everyone have an different personalities', 'Everybody have an different perspective', 'Global fashion trends changes'). Punctuation errors, such as missing capitalisation, misplaced spaces before full stops, and run-on phrasing, are also common. These frequent errors cause occasional difficulty for the reader and reflect the characteristics of Band 5 grammar.
