Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the current world many aspects of the way people dressing was influenced by global fashion trends. The global fashion became a very strong influence on people's lives because the global stars and companies are the factors which are manily effecting the global fashion trends.

On the other hand, most of the people in the current world are completely influenced by the social media network or the cyber world. Many youngsters were totally under the control of the social media apps like Instagram, Facebook, X etc.

All the children are totally in the transe of the online network because they feel it comfortable and understand the trends and fashion designs on online and will definetely try to wear them. In the other case, the adults were aware of the fashion trends and follow accordingly with a good amount of knowledge on fashion. They choose wisely what they are wearing and do not always follow the trend and follow the legacy of the old fashion.

The main reason why many people were influenced by the global fashion is due to the world's top fashion designers and on the global stars like BTS, BlackPink and many other, These people follow the fashion trend all the time, this made their fans also follow the same trend to stay united with their ideals.

In conclusion, I would say that many children and teenagers were purely habituated by the fashion trends and it might sometimes go into a negative way where many children and be teased or bullied by their appearance, whereas coming to adults the do not blindly follow the trend, they understand the importance of the fashion trend and wear accordingly and never forget their chilhood fashion.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the causes of global fashion influence and presenting a viewpoint on whether this is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and repetitive. For instance, the first body paragraph attempts to contrast youngsters and adults, but the points lack depth and rely on vague generalisations such as 'All the children are totally in the transe of the online network'. The conclusion introduces new evaluative thoughts regarding bullying rather than effectively summarising the main body points. While a clear position is discernible, the ideas require more robust support and extension to reach higher bands. Therefore, a Band 5.5 is appropriate for Task Achievement as the task is addressed only partially with under-developed reasoning.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is divided into paragraphs, but the overall organisational structure is weak, lacking a clear logical progression between paragraphs. The introduction is very brief and abrupt. While basic cohesive devices are present, such as 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion', they are sometimes used inappropriately or mechanically (e.g., 'In the other case'). Furthermore, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the pronoun 'These people' in the third body paragraph which refers back somewhat loosely. Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion within paragraphs often breaks down, leading to a disjointed reading experience. This aligns best with the Band 5 descriptor, where some organisation is evident, but overall progression lacks clarity and cohesion is frequently faulty.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student demonstrates a limited but minimally adequate range of vocabulary for the task. Words related to the topic, such as 'fashion trends', 'social media network', and 'designers', are used correctly. However, there are numerous lexical inaccuracies and spelling errors throughout the text, including 'dressing' instead of 'dress', 'manily effecting' instead of 'mainly affecting', 'transe' instead of 'trance', 'chilhood' instead of 'childhood', and awkward phrasing like 'follow the legacy of the old fashion'. These noticeable errors and restricted vocabulary variety mean the lexicon cannot support a score above Band 5.0, as vocabulary limitations occasionally cause difficulty or lack precision for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but control over grammar is weak. There are frequent errors in tense usage and subject-verb agreement, such as 'many aspects of the way people dressing was influenced', where 'dressing' and 'was' are grammatically incorrect in this context. Other errors include run-on sentences and punctuation issues, for example, comma splices in sentences like 'These people follow the fashion trend all the time, this made their fans...' While simple sentences are generally understandable, attempts at more complex structures frequently result in grammatical faults. These frequent errors can cause some difficulty for the reader, fitting the Band 5 descriptors well.
