Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is irrefutable that in this modern era, many parts of the way of people dressing style are influenced by global fashion trends. In my opinion it is negative trend because of many reasons which I will discuss in upcoming paragraphs.
The most compelling one reason for believing this is that it may increase the pressure to follow trends because when celebrities oftenly showed their new styles of clothes, people may feel they have to wear the latest fashion for even looking more handsome. For example, mostly youngsters change their dressing style by the influence of personalities. As a result, people may compare themselves with
others as well as they buy clothes which they have no need.
Furthermore, it may increase unnecessary spending because when young people more depends on social media, global fashion trends encourage them to purchase new clothes as well as due to constantly change of fashion trends they borrow new clothes, shoes and accessories to become popular than others. For instance,if a particular type of clothes becomes popular on social media, youngster may desire to purchase it even though, they already have. Consequently, it is not beneficial for them.
In addition to this, modern fashion can weaken local clothing tradition because individuals are constantly exposed to international fashion through social media, films, celebrities and other brands. To be more precise, it will become more attractive for young people than traditional clothing. To exemplify, during festivals people more prefer to wear western outfits than cultural outfits to become more beautiful. Hence, it may put bad impact on cultural outfits.
In Conclusion, I believe that it is negative trend because it may increase thepressure to follow trends, it may increase unnecessary spending
and modern fashion can weaken the national local clothing traditions.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task, examining both how global fashion has become influential and arguing a clear position that it is a negative development. The student covers the causes of this influence through social media and celebrities, and discusses negative impacts such as financial pressure and the erosion of local cultural traditions. However, the development of ideas remains somewhat repetitive and limited in depth, with generalisations rather than fully extended arguments. For example, the point regarding unnecessary spending is touched upon in two separate body paragraphs without adding significantly new dimensions. Therefore, the response aligns best with Band 6 descriptors, where the task is addressed with relevant ideas, though some parts are under-developed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, distinct body paragraphs tackling separate points, and a concluding summary. Paragraphing is utilised appropriately to separate ideas such as social media pressure, financial costs, and cultural erosion. However, the use of cohesive devices is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, such as the frequent reliance on transitional phrases like 'Furthermore,' 'In addition to this,' and 'To exemplify.' Referencing is generally clear, but occasional clunky phrasing and repetitive sentence openings affect the overall flow and progression of the text. Consequently, this performance fits comfortably within the Band 6 criteria for coherence and cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully incorporating topic-specific terms such as 'global fashion trends,' 'social media,' 'cultural outfits,' and 'accessories.' There are, however, noticeable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text, such as 'many parts of the way of people dressing style' instead of 'how people dress,' 'oftenly' (non-standard form of frequently), and 'constantly change' instead of 'constant change.' While the student attempts less common vocabulary, these frequent lexical slips and errors indicate a Band 6 level, where the range is sufficient to communicate meaning despite some inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay features a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some variety in structure with dependent clauses and conditional structures. However, grammatical errors are frequent throughout the response, including issues with word order, verb forms, and articles, such as 'when celebrities oftenly showed' (tense and adverb placement error), 'for even looking more handsome' (unnatural phrasing), and 'youngster may desire' (singular/plural agreement). Punctuation errors and missing spaces also appear, such as running words together or missing commas after introductory phrases. Although these errors do not severely impede overall communication, they prevent the essay from reaching a higher band, making Band 5.0 the most accurate descriptor.
