Student answer (Band 5.0)
Global fashion has become a very strong influence in the societial life. It can be positive trend as the people are getting more aware of where the world is going and can follow the trend. At the same time they are updated according to the fashion followed globally which gives them strength and confidence to feel included in the trend. On an contradictory, the trend may mislead the people by just following them without knowing the reason or condition behind that. This is mostly seen in the youths who blindly follow the film stars and are attarcted towards the fashion which might not suit them to live in an ideal society but the stars would have done only to attain fame. This is connected to the historic even where europe specifically Bristish empire was on the way to conquer most of the part of the world and had made colonies and started settling there. The natives were criticised for the clothing they had. Britishers used consider the dressing sense as traditional or old and consider themselves in a disciplined way just by wearing a particular modern type of dressing. In order to attain respect and place natives started adopting the trend which was followed by the britishers. And today in India, specifically the youth is influenced by the other countries and the film stars for the fashion and blindly follow them so it can be negative development when the people are not aware about it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing how global fashion influences lives and whether it is a positive or negative development. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited and discursive. For example, the historical reference to the British Empire is loosely connected and lacks clear integration with the main argument about modern global fashion. Furthermore, the length requirement has not been met, as the essay contains 245 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum. This results in a negative impact on the overall task achievement as the ideas cannot be fully expanded. Based on these descriptors, a band score of 5.5 is appropriate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0
The text suffers from significant cohesion and paragraphing issues. The entire essay is presented as a single, dense block of text without proper paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used awkwardly or inaccurately at times, such as 'On an contradictory', which impairs the natural flow of ideas. While there is an underlying progression from discussing the influence of fashion to its pros and cons and finally to historical context, the lack of structural demarcation makes the overall arrangement difficult to follow. Therefore, this criterion warrants a band score of 5.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is adequate for communicating basic ideas, but it is limited and contains several noticeable errors in word choice and form, such as 'societial life' instead of 'societal life', 'attarcted' instead of 'attracted', and 'even' instead of 'event'. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'conquer', 'colonies', and 'disciplined', but these attempts are often tied to awkward collocations or inaccurate phrasing. While communication is not severely impeded, the frequency of lexical inaccuracies places the response firmly within the Band 5.0 descriptor range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, but grammatical control is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in article usage, prepositions, and verb tenses, such as 'Britishers used consider' instead of 'used to consider', 'most of the part' instead of 'most parts', and 'so it can be negative development' missing an article. Complex structures are often attempted, but they frequently contain errors that cause some difficulty for the reader. Punctuation is also rudimentary, given the lack of paragraphing. These grammatical issues support a band score of 5.0.
