Student answer (Band 5.5)
In recent years, following the trend of global fashion designs are increased day by day.Although,
this trend has many positive effects, I believe that it has some drawbacks.
On the one hand, people starts to follow the global fashion trend because they wants to stay up to date with trend and show their status in front of society.Nowadays, everyone wants to wear new kind of clothes that are in the top fashion designs because they want to show their money and dressing sense in front of their family as well as friend. Moreover, new generation likes to watch tv shows, movies and listen songs and they consider actress and singers as their role models. Therefore, they like to follow their dresses and try to became like their role models. For example, a famous actress named nimrat kheira wears a expensive and large dress in her one concert after that hundered of girls also buy the same dress to look like her. That all things helps them to learn new dressing sense and stay up to date with time and fashion to make them smart.
One the other hand, while they can learn more about fashion and new things but there are some disadvantages of following global fashion trends. Firstly, individuals starts to forget their own cultural and religious dress.if everyone try to wear new and new dress then they can forget their own cultural dress becuase they like to wear international clothes. For instance, suit salwar is cultural clothes in punjab and every women wears it in past time but the influence of global fashion, thesedays every girl in punjab likes to wear jean-top and they don't like to wear their own cultural clothes. Moreover, buying new clothes just because influence of trend is just wastage of money. Because, multitudes do not need to buy those fashionable clothes that they can't wear regularly in their society.
Conclusion, while from global fashion trends, people can stay updated with new fashion, learn more about dressing sense but in my perspective, in this way, they can forget their cultural clothes and waste their money on unneccessary dresses.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses both parts of the prompt, discussing the causes of global fashion influence and providing an opinion on whether this development is positive or negative. A clear position is maintained throughout the essay. The ideas are extended and supported with relevant examples, such as the mention of media influence and the specific reference to 'nimrat kheira' wearing a dress at a concert. However, there is a tendency to over-generalise in parts, such as stating that 'everyone' wears international clothes and forgets traditional attire, which slightly limits the depth of the analysis. Overall, the task is adequately fulfilled, meeting the requirements for a Band 6.5 to 7.0, and is best placed at Band 6.0 due to some under-developed arguments and repetitive supporting points.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay is divided into logical paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to signal shifts in argument, such as 'On the one hand', 'Moreover', and 'One the other hand'. However, referencing and cohesion are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in awkward transitions like 'That all things helps them'. Paragraphing is present and generally appropriate, but the overall progression of ideas feels somewhat repetitive, particularly in the first body paragraph. This demonstrates the characteristics of Band 6, where there is a coherent overall arrangement and clear referencing at times, but mechanical errors and awkward sequencing hold it back from a higher band.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, touching upon relevant concepts such as 'global fashion trends', 'cultural and religious dress', and 'wastage of money'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice, collocation, and form, such as 'following the trend of global fashion designs are increased', 'people starts', and 'became like their role models' instead of 'become'. Less common vocabulary is attempted, but inaccuracies in spelling and word formation, such as 'hundered' and 'unneccessary', occasionally distract the reader. These features align closely with the Band 5.5 to 6.0 descriptors, reflecting an adequate range with noticeable lexical errors that do not severely impede communication.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, utilising subordinating conjunctions such as 'although', 'because', and 'while'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('people starts', 'everyone wants... because they want', 'multitudes do not need'), tense consistency ('wears a expensive... in her one concert after that hundered of girls also buy'), and article usage ('a expensive', 'in past time'). Punctuation is also problematic in places, with missing spaces after commas and periods. While communication is generally maintained despite these errors, the high frequency of basic grammatical inaccuracies places this performance firmly at Band 5.0.
