Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is assumed that nowadays the way people dress are influenced by global fashion trends and fashion has a strong influence in people's lives globally. I agree with this statement and in my opi ion it is a negative development. This essay will support my opinion with the help of examples.
Fashion has now become a strong trend worldwide and people are following the fashion trends and the life style of influentials. Due to this, most of the people are suffering from inferiority complex because they are in the race of looking better than others. There is a lot of pressure that if someone does not follow the trend will look mediocre. For-example short hairs are in trend now and people start following this no matter if they like long hairs.
The other reason I disgree with this is because of this development people just forget their culture and traditions because they become so obsessed and inspired by the fashion trend globally. Culture is very important for any country and people now think following culture made them look less aesthetic and less cool.
Fashon trend plays an important role in people's lives. It gives them awareness about the things that are happening internationally. It plays an important role in the grooming of people and making them more confident and vigilant. But becoming obsessed with fashion trens are not good.
Fashion has a strong influence in the lives of people and the way people dress influenced by fashion trends but in my opinion it is a negative development. Every person has a right to dress up according to their own choice so, there should be no judgement on this.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The student addresses both parts of the prompt: how global fashion influences people's lives and whether this is a positive or negative development. A clear position is established early on in the introduction ('in my opinion it is a negative development') and maintained throughout the essay. However, the ideas are somewhat repetitive and lack deep extension. For instance, the discussion on cultural loss ('people just forget their culture') and psychological pressure ('inferiority complex') is introduced briefly without robust supporting examples or data. Despite these limitations, all parts of the task are covered, fitting the criteria for Band 6.0.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct ideas, such as psychological impacts and cultural erosion. However, cohesion is at times mechanical or repetitive, relying heavily on transitional phrases like 'The other reason' and 'Fashion trend plays'. Referencing is occasionally slightly unclear, as seen in the phrase 'disgree with this is because of this development'. Logical progression is present, but the transitions between paragraphs and ideas could be smoother and more varied, supporting a Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary range for the task, successfully using topic-specific terms like 'global fashion trends', 'inferiority complex', and 'culture and traditions'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('opi ion', 'disgree', 'Fashon', 'trens') and instances of imprecise word choice ('influentials' instead of 'influencers', 'short hairs' instead of 'short hair'). While less common vocabulary is attempted, the persistence of basic spelling mistakes and minor collocation inaccuracies prevents the score from reaching a higher band. Overall, the lexical resource is sufficient for Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0
The response includes a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'Due to this, most of the people are suffering from inferiority complex because they are in the race of looking better than others.' There are several grammatical errors and awkward structures, notably subject-verb agreement issues ('the way people dress are influenced') and punctuation or missing articles ('following the trend will look mediocre'). While these errors are noticeable, they rarely impede overall communication, allowing the reader to follow the argument. This performance aligns comfortably with Band 6.0.
